Clean, open, airy, and worth waiting for. The servers and table staff are very busy, but still friendly. Cheerful. The food is... great. My breakfast was served in less than 5 minutes from the time I ordered, but I arrived at 1:30 p.m. I feel that it's agood value, even if the prices are higher than some other places. Given the current economy and inflation, I think the pricesare fair. I had the pumpkin pancakes with home made whipped cream and pecans. A seasonal offering. Read more
Delicious food and large portions. Their apple pancakes are the taste of delicious nostalgia.. though I might recommend calling... ahead if you want them and you're in a rush so you can really enjoy your time and the restaurant. Great service and friendlypeople. Read more

omg! Omg! OMG! The Original Pancake House closed it's Oak Park restaurant and moved to Forest Park, then closed that one. The... the La Grange one closed, BUT it popped up in another La Grange location (the defunct Baker's Square). The OPH has revised it'smenu and is now breakfast only (sans the tasteless biscuits and gravy). The new menu has only favorites, made how you like 'em(Apple, Dutch pancakes; baked omelettes in more variety of fillings; potato, silver dollar pancakes and fluffy, crispy waffles)!The OPH still has the thick cut bacon, which never really crisps up, but the sausages are great. Coffee is dark roast and verygood, served with real cream and served in mugs made strictly for OPH by locals. The mugs are available for purchase ( it was mybirthday gift). Being the holiday season, the theme was Grinchy Christmas. There is a Pancakes and Pajamas theme on December18th. AND there is a Carry Out option. The decor is breathtaking and was an amazing feat to turn the Baker's Square into amodern chalet. Just beautiful! At $7 or more dollars more than your average diner, it's worth the trip.
