It was a pretty ritzy place. Gorgeous views. The only downside for us is that we had asked for outdoor seating, there were... plenty of empty tables, but we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. We opted to eat inside as we had a flight to catch. Ihad their rotisserie chicken sandwich. It was AMAZING! It had this delicate smoky flavor that played very well with the garlicaoli and avocado. Enjoyed a lovely lunch here today, the climate couldn't have been any better. Beautiful views, excellent service and amazing... food. Haven't been here in years but today was treat day. From the moment I walked in to the minute I finished my meal, theservice was outstanding. I ordered the "Drugstore Hamburger" (warning, it's a BIG burger). Asked for it medium with no mayowith fries. It came out exactly as I ordered, delicious, juicy, hot with melted Swiss cheese, Lettuce Tomatoes, Pickles,Onions. Condiments placed on the side. Ice Tea was freshly made and very refreshing. After my meal, I asked for a cappuccino,my server informed me that the espresso beans come from a local outfit named "Ryan Brothers Coffee". Now I'm very partial to myLavazza, but this coffee impressed me. If you are in town, come down for the views and you'll definitely enjoy, appreciate andlove the food, service and ambiance. Brunch serves after 11AM on weekends. Prior to that is simple breakfast menu. We walked in on weekend & got seated right await... after 11am. The bloody Mary is mediocre. If you could handle spiciness, order Rodrigo style chicken wings with sauce on the side(to play safe). The habernaro sauce is no joke for me whom enjoy some kicks in flavor. Be careful with the sauce, really spicy. The smoked tuna sando is really good. There's actually big chunk of tuna & quite flavorful. It comes with a side of eitherfries/sweet potato/fried ring onion. The service is friendly & attentive. The only con is the price on expensive side. That highprice includes the view of the golf course. I recommend sitting outside vs boring indoor. It'd be a awesome place to hang outwith friends, nice view & good food. The entrance is across from the golf course parking. Bread & butter is served upon requestonly! Read more

We stopped by The Grill for an impromptu late afternoon snack after being unable to find parking at the nearby beach. Our 17... month old was tired, grumpy, and in need of food and fresh air. The Grill provided a great experience all around! You enter viathe hotel; even though we weren't hotel guests, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and directed towards The Grill, which is ashort walk through the beautiful hotel grounds (there are stairs, which weren't a problem for us as we didn't have our strollerwith us, but wheelchair users would do well to call ahead to determine access options.) The staff at The Grill were no lesswelcoming than the hotel front desk staff, seating us quickly and without fuss; they provided a high chair for the small one,and *thoroughly* cleaned it beforehand which we sincerely appreciated. Service was quick and attentive without beingoverbearing, and the staff were jovial toward the baby - he is very cute though, so I can't blame them. We ate lightly -chicken wings and dessert for mom and dad, a grilled cheese for the baby. The grilled cheese was as plain as you'd expect foodprepared for a baby - if your kids have a more refined palate, consider the main menu. The chicken wings were crisp on theoutside, succulent on the inside, with excellent flavor; the accompanying dip (I believe a sriracha-blue cheese affair)complemented them nicely. Dessert consisted of a baked cheesecake accompanied by fresh fruit, and a magnificent chocolateytrifle-adjacent concoction. Both were delicious and hit the spot perfectly - generous but not excessive portions. We livelocally, and so have little reason to stay in the hotel, but if the food and service at The Grill is representative of the widerexperience, we may need to find a reason to stay there soon. What a special place. Right along the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course with its superlative views of the ocean and Torrey Pines... State Reserve. We enjoyed the tri tip offering and the Ruben sandwich. The Ruben was incredible. Not obscenely stacked as in NYCbut perfect! A pickle side would have been nice. But,. Hey this is not NYC! Read more
