All the food we had was killer. The drinks weren't bad, but that was the only thing less than stellar. The pork belly appetizer... was perfection, the pork tenderloin was better than I could have ever hoped, and the prices weren't even terrible. I've paidmuch more for much worse food. To top it all off, the chef wasn't even in that day and our food still slapped that hard. Read more
It took a while for the server to come to us initially but besides that, the service was great and the food was pretty good. The... restaurant has big windows and it overlooks the lake. Nice view while you eat. The food was kind of pricey but it was good. Irecommend trying this place. Read more
We came in at around 6 pm and they were slammed. We had a party of 11 people and they said the wait might be an hour and they... would text us as soon as they were ready. We went back to our rental and chilled for a bit (had a beer). They texted us about30 minutes later and said our table would be ready in 5 min. We got there and they had set up several tables together all witha table cloth over it, looking out over Lake Superior - beautiful! We ordered drinks and appetizers - the roasted brusselssprouts were amazing. The 'bootlegger' cocktail was so good, and the pinot grigio I had with my 'bar mussels linguini' was anexcellent pair. Everyone else was delighted at the quality of food and the service and wait times were all above average. Veryhappy with our dinner there. Would definitely go again when next in La Pointe. Read more
Stopped in last night with my wife for our 20th anniversary. The guy working behind the bar for some reason decided to wait on... everyone but me even customers who walked in after me. Shouldn't take 15 minutes to get a beer. When i told him what I wanted hesaid the beer was expired and he drank it all. Really??? Will never come back !!!!!!!???? Read more

It?s a funky season on Madeline Island. Between staff shortages, inability to bring in staff/students from overseas, and a COVID... hangover, The Pub, like all restaurants on the island this year, is morphing to become what it needs to be. No one really knowsyet what that means. I have eaten there weekly since they opened and it?s often been because there aren?t other options whenit?s 6 pm and it dawns on you it?s time to eat. Other places are not open or close an hour earlier than The Pub. [ed. One yearlater, all businesses on the island are still in recovery. I ate at the Pub last night and was impressed by the Merlot FrenchOnion Soup and the Sweet Potato Salad with a bistro steak added. Beautifully done.] I?ve seen people come in who think they?reentitled to jump line, push ahead of other families waiting because (as all could hear) they had been customers for more than 50years. Am I giving 5 stars? No, I?m saving that for the day when the manager and hostess are satisfied they have done all theycan. I see progress and want to be supportive of workers who are trying.
