After hitting Jesse Carl Vinyl for the Record Store Day Black Friday specials I headed to South Combee Road for some breakfast.... My intended destination was closed, but A&B Restaurant had a full parking lot so I gave them a try. After perusing the menu Isettled on Chicken Fried Steak, sausage gravy, home fries, eggs over medium, white toast, and coffee. My breakfast appearedpromptly, delivered with a smile, and was genuinely satisfying. Of particular note was the steak with sausage gravy. It waslight, not heavy or greasy, fork tender, and perfectly seasoned. I was impressed. The eggs were done to perfection, and thecoffee was delicious. This is one of those little hidden gems that it always seems the locals only know about. They serve your good ole standard fare... breakfast and lunch. Basic stuff. Place gets packed on the weekends. We absolutely love the food at a&b restaurant. We have not had anything that wasn't just absolutely delicious home-cooked meals.... The owner Eric is fabulous and always comes out to check on each table. Even the tea is good LOL and my husband always has tohave one of the soups to take home. Love their patriotic decor! Great All American , old fashioned diner. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. 2 in our... party ordered breakfast items. Pancakes were not fresh ???? stale, crusty top. That would be our only complaint from thevisit. Server was great at keeping up with our thirsty camels ???? Would go again. Read more
