I have been a Gayety's fan as long as I can remember. My parents took Mr to the original location and the founder was still at... the register. Whatever happened that lead to new ownership did not change the quality of the ice cream or candy. A hot fudgesplit with a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of banana had me here again... all the way from Harlem NYC. The toffee is as good asit ever was. A box will follow me home to be enjoyed with a 10 or 12 year old bottle of Rombauer Zinfindel. And yes I will beback on my next trip to Chicago from New York. Read more
My husband and I loved this place, it was our favorite spot. That is until they got my order wrong. I ordered a hot fudge banana... split and my daughter ordered a hot fudge sundae. When the lady was checking me out, she said 2 hot fudge sundaes and Icorrected her. She says yes 1 is a banana split. I get home and there is no bananas. I call and the lady advises me I can comeback up there for bananas. I told her I don't live close enough to justify me coming back for bananas. She asked me what do Iwant her to do. I ask for a replacement or a discount on my next order. She says I can give you bananas. Thank you but I won'tbe returning. Read more
