Very clean restaurant with great live music!! The staff are friendly and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The ribs my... brother ordered were very tender and seasoned well. The chicken sandwich was seasoned well without being too salty. All the meathad a lot of flavor. The spinach dip and shrimp and grits cakes were delicious. The pudding in the banana pudding was great, butthe banana pudding could use more cookies. The Mac and cheese was bland too me and everyone else at the table. The presentationof the food was nice as well. We got refills without asking. I believe our waitress was Courtney. She made our visit at least 2xbetter. I look forward to trying more dishes out whenever we visit Kentucky again. I totally recommend this restaurant! Read more
My wife and I love J. Render's! The food is amazing. We have been here several times and I have not had a meal that I would not... gladly get a second time! The drinks are made perfectly (she says top 2 lemon drop martini, and I say best Long Island I'veever had). The servers are friendly and prompt. My husband and I went to J. Render's for our date night and we took advantage of the Lexington Restaurant Week Deal! It was 19$... per person and you each get Oh No Balls (SO DELICIOUS), your choice of the chicken sandwich (what my husband ordered) or 1/4 lbsmashburger (what I ordered), and choice of side! We decided on fried mac & cheese and loaded fries. It was absolutelyphenomenal! Their Bourbon BBQ Sauce was delicious, we actually bought two bottles ($8/each). I ate dinner with a friend tonight, I can definitely tell it is a small family owned business. The live music made for a great... atmosphere, and the service was exceptional, and the drink was exquisite (those are my 3 stars). The food overall was not great.The only things I enjoyed were the glazed brussle sprouts and the fried green tomatoes, which says a lot for a barbecuerestaurant. I ordered the chicken quarter (dark) and brisket. The meat was dry and would have returned it, but i was raised tobe polite and not throw food away. I consumed all of it by drowning it in your very delicious makers sauce. Maybe try smokingthe meat for less time. The mac and cheese lacked any flavor and tasted like boiled flour noodles, try adding more variety ofcheeses and seasoning, paprika is a nice one, even just simple salt and pepper. In being a small family business, i can tell youguys take a lot of pride in what you do, i can only hope you guys learn to take a little criticism from those of us that willcontinue to be open and honest.
