As a well-rounded genuine Peruvian, I’m used to disappointment when it comes to “authentic Peruvian” food in NJ. There... are many Peruvian restaurants in NJ but the good ones are far and few between. Stancia was the exception and the food didn’tdisappoint! The restaurant uses fresh and quality products and takes no shortcuts in the preparation. Even though food wasreally tasty and fresh, I think the prices were a bit on the high end. The combo marino was $50 and the tallarín de lomo was$39. As with everything else, this could be a result of the pandemic and supply chain issues. Although my experience wasextremely positive, I think there’s room for improvement. For example, the look of the menus needs an upgrade. The menus weremade of paper and they look more like a take-out menu rather than a real restaurant menu. If you aren’t familiar with Peruvianfood, it would be impossible to order. Pictures or a digital menu would be really helpful. Also, I didn’t realize the gratuitywas already included for a party of two and we ended up adding an extra 20% for a tip when, in reality, we didn’t need to.Finally, we were charged an extra $5.00 because we paid with our debit card. It's more 3.5 but Google doesn't allow 1/2 star. The four of us ordered a fried yuca as appetizer, salchipollo, arroz con... mariscos, tallarin saltado and caldo de gallina. The Arroz was good. The tallarin saltado was way too salty and didn't love thecaldo de gallina. We spent close to $130 with tip. I thought it was a little high considering we ordered only two main entrees, the other two being a kids meal and soup. Wouldn't necessarily go back when there are better local options. Read more
