Cool place to check out and have a meal. I wouldn?t say it?s the best BBQ I have ever had, but it was good and enjoyable. If you... get a plate for lunch, expect to spend $20-30 for your plate. The peach cobbler was a bit disappointing. It tasted like straightmolasses or something really sweet with no other flavors. The mac & cheese and creamed corn were out of this world. Given that this business has existed for almost 100 years is a feat in and of itself. Now, given that Texas has a million great... barbecue places - it is fair understand why the Original Black's Barbecue in Lockhart is known as one of the best. Nestled inthe historic district of Lockhart, you feel like you're experiencing a piece of history already as you're waiting in lineoutside of this highly acclaimed eatery. We went during lunch on a Saturday and the wait was no more than 15 minutes. And eventhat time seemed to fly by as we admired all the photos of famous people who have visited on the walls in the hallway as weneared the serving line. The serving line starts with the side dishes, which I can say are about a B/B+ rating, they have thestandard green beans, dirty rice, pinto beans, Mac n cheese, slaw, potato salad - but what stuck out to me was their jalapenocornbread. The meats were about a B+/A- in my opinion. The serving sizes and prices are very fair and they have some excellentoptions to choose from. I can't honestly say that any meat I tried was the best I've had from all the BBQ joints in Texas, butit was still very good. In terms of atmosphere, this place is certainly an A+. I feel like I walked into a time capsule from1932 and I felt that I got my money's worth from the visceral experience alone. Read more
For being my first time there the food was pretty good. The brisket and slices of turkey were very juicy but the sausage link... was kinda dry plus they didn't have any bread but overall I had a great time with my family. Read more

Today... that unfortunate streak ended and I had their brisket ?which was as perfect as any I?ve had in my 72 years?fromanywhere! Moist, tender, meaty, flavorful and delicious! Ribs were good, sausage was a personal like, sides good, sauce good.Easy to manipulate through the service line. Friendly servers. Worth every damned dollar!
