The Reef is on an island in Long Beach Harbor. The island also houses the Queen Mary ship and a couple of hotels. It is nice... scenery and The Reef has nice views of Long Beach Harbor and Downtown Long Beach. However, I attended a wedding dinner and thefood was only fair at best. The filet magnon steak I was served was rather tough. The facility is rather old, there are woodenplanks on the outside of the restaurant that are cracked in many places. I found the entrance to be rather cold andunwelcoming. They have several dinning/ballrooms and there is no sign to direct people, which I found rather confusing. Also, the building has an odd, old smell to it throughout the building. In addition, it is a challenge just to get to the facility. After you cross the bridge, you almost have to drive around in circles to find the location. There is not enough big clearsigns on the road to direct you for the different exits. In addition, it is very easy to end up on the northbound I-710freeway; in fact, GPS tells you to get on the 710 going north for The Reef, which is a mistake. Read more

We were invited to a party on a Saturday night and there were 3 events going on at the same time. As a result, parking was... overflowing, people parking in red zone and double parking. Then we ordered the filet mignon and it was tough. Read more

Just went there for a wedding and I have some minor complaints. Problem 1: I’ve been to many weddings and this was the first... wedding ever the required you to not only rsvp with your food choice but also pick up your food ticket upon entry. No one evergreeted us or told us this so it came as quite a shock when it was meal time and 3 people at our table did not get their food ofchoice and my 8 year old never got food AT ALL. After telling 3 servers that my son never got his meal- no one ever brought himany food and we were there for 6 hours. Although I chose fish, they only had chicken available and it turned out delicious. Ifmy son got ANY food at all, I wouldn’t even complain about the fish but it really broke my heart that he didn’t get anyfood. We had to get him mcdonalds after the wedding, good thing they are open late. My suggestion is to DITCH the stupid ticketthing because I’ve never had to do that at any wedding and have always been served the food I requested when I rsvp’d. Ialso heard some people showed up who did not RSVP and got their ticket and got the fish which they ran out of for those whoactually RSVP’d. Whoever is in charge of the food needs a new strategy. No rsvp = eat left overs or no food. I recommend ifyou bring kids, bring them snacks in case they don’t feed your kids. Problem 2: It was beyond freezing inside the receptionarea. With that said, the outdoor patio had fire pits so I had to stay out there after I ate (whatever food there was available)to stay warm. Pros: Beautiful view Very friendly staff Clean bathrooms Plenty of parking Delicious drinks at the bar Deliciousfood delicious appetizers Read more
