One of the top places in town. Handmade pasta, brick oven pizza with a curated, seasonal, well executed menu. Not sure of any... other places close by that actually make their own pasta. Andrew the chef/owner is the man, truly cares about his operation.Cocktail and wine program is spot on. Intimate, cozy experience with awesome, authentic food. Get the porchetta bruschetta, apizza, salad and a pasta dish. He always has a veal chop and a steak. Offers all the other staples like chicken parm and such. There are always specials on the menu. Staff and service is top notch. A must try. Don't over look dessert. Read more

Food was OK portions were small, but the service was in need of friendliness. Waitress made the table feel uncomfortable from... the very beginning. She seemed put off right from the start. Had issues with an air conditioner leaking water on myself and oneother person and when we approached the waitress she seemed very uninterested. My feeling is that you dine in for theexperience and the server can make all the difference. Read more

I wish we could give 10 stars, by far our best Manhattan & Long Beach vacation meal. 8 days of eating every meal out plenty to... compare Grotta against! A local tipped us off to this place as walking from the rental to beach we asked a random persongetting their mail where they’d go for dinner and without hesitation they responded Grotta. Funny enough we saw that personpicking-up takeout when we arrived at Grotta for our reservation! Our waitress was very friendly and extremely knowledgeableabout the menu and when we told her our likes, and what we’d already sampled in Manhattan, she helped narrow down selections. That was needed since wanted to order over half the menu! Started with a Caesar salad, serving size perfect for sharing, thenentrees of clams linguine and gnocchi with a sausage purée. The linguine had 12 large and clean (sometimes clams can be sandy)in-shells clams. The clams were perfectly cooked to be juicy and not chewy. We ordered bread to sop up the delicious sauces, can’t waste liquid gold! Only drawback is the interior is very, very loud and the tables are so close together don’t expectan intimate dinner conversation. It’s awkward trying to converse when the table next to you is less than a foot a way. Read more
