Absolutely love Marvin every time. The branzino is perfect, the tartare is pictured (my fave) as well as the octopus and... oysters. It is reliable and never lets you down. The service is so friendly too. Read more

Marvin has inventive food but it's all about the wine. Glasses range in price from 15 to $20+ while the place serves up scores... of bottles. For glass pours, you'll only find about nine or so options -- the first three or four bottles on the lists for red, white and bubbly. But the menu picks out lovely, versatile glasses. I had a Gruner and a fizzy natural and would go again, though perhaps at a less busy time (8.15, Tuesday), then again I got an outdoor seat overlooking Beverly Blvd at street level,so I can't even pretend to have gripes. I ate here with my bf today We had the octopus salad for an appetizer, which was the best part of the meal. I had the branzino,... cooked well but nothing special. Also they only gave me 3 peices of asparagus (a little chummy for a $40 entree) my bf enjoyedhis steak and the portions for his meal were fair. The wine was awful, like it was left out too long but my biggest issue is Ifeel like the servers or hostess should disclose that there is a mandatory 20% service fee. This is for all parties even a partyof one. They only show your receipt with your itemized bill and then give you a receipt to sign and tip on top. It is easy tonot read the full itemized bill and tip on top of the 20%. “Service fee “ . More transparency regarding this practice wouldmake me more inclined to return. Read more

The food is AMAZING, one of my favorites in the city. My issue was a mandatory 20% Service Charge that is not shown on the bill... you sign. I ate there by myself and later noticed a 20% Service Fee added to the itemized receipt. I can understand if it's aparty of 6 or more, but a single, sitting at the bar... I noticed this on another bill as well. I do not mind the charge butnot being completely transparent and upfront with it is what bothers me. When you add a Tip on top of that - I'm paying anextra $30 dollars on a $50 bill. Read more

Sunday was my first time dining for dinner and we all had a great experience. French cuisine is in my top three favorites so I... try to go to every single one all over Los Angeles and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to, and I havealready been to over 15. Our server Zeke was very polite and attentive. The vibe on the inside is a mix between a traditionalFrench bistro and a casual cocktail bar. The east side of the restaurant is the whole bar whereas the west side is where all thetables are, as well as outside seating. For my starter I chose the Steak Tartare and it was very good. I wish there was morebread on the side to spread but the taste and quality of the meat was perfect. For my entrée I chose the grilled Branzino andwas very impressed. It was two large pieces with smooth mashed potatoes and herb roasted asparagus as sides. I have been havingtoo many desserts recently so I skipped the option last night but they had chocolate soufflé and a toffee date cake on theirmenu that I plan to get in the future. All around a good experience and someplace I would return. The pricing is fair and ifyou’re a fan of French bistros you will like this one as well. Parking is also very easy depending on the day and time but Ihad absolutely no trouble for my 7PM reservation. Read more
