This was not the first time I?ve been to the Plaza. It?s one of our favorites for large groups. They are usually pretty good at... keeping the wait time low even for larger groups. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is pretty standard TexMex. They have some option that are original, like creamy jalapeño dip, but overall they serve all the usual options. They havea hotter version of salsa for those who prefer more heat, and they always bring little bowls so you don?t all have to dip out ofthe same bowl; I know that?s important to some. I wouldn?t call it the best Tex Mex it average, and consistent, which is veryimportant to me. It generally good food and definitely what I want when I want Tex Mex. Read more
We tried this place in Amarillo so decided to try the Lubbock location. First the good: our waitress was very nice and attentive... but we had to remind her about refilling our drinks. I had the enchilada lunch special with beef enchiladas with jalapeno sauce,refried beans and rice. My plate was good but the jalapeno sauce wasn't spicy at all. We also had a manager come by and ask howeverything was and if we needed anything. Now for the bad: the chips and salsa. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce, now spice orflavor to it at all. There was honestly nothing that wowed me here or anything that would get me to come back. Yeah the food wasgood and so was the customer service but nothing that would make me come again. I'm a foodie. I enjoy going to different locations to eat. Since COVID I'm assuming all the good cooks are collecting... unemployment because a ton of locations that used to rock have gone down hill. New locations: The Plaza NEVER been, heard greatthings. Food appearance: well, visually it will pass. Taste: I ordered chicken fajitas. These fajitas came from a bag you buyfrom the grocery store. They opened the bad and cooked it. Very bland, no seasoning. My mom ordered: Enchilada plate with an ala carte of a tamale. She liked her tamale but it was tiny. It could fit in the palm of your hand. If you have big hands it wouldbe half of your palm. She added salt and pepper and left most of the enchilada and only ate the tamale. Chips and hot sauce: wehad a refill of chips. I ordered the habanero or the hottest hot sauce. It was okay. Queso: I'm a queso connoisseur. This wassimply Ricos Gourmet Nacho Cheese in a can, heated and a few things added. (Seasoning not being one of these) Drinks: maybethis doesn't happen everyday but my drink came.with something extra. The filter from the drink machine. ???? Papas: Theirpapa's came from a bag as you just have to open the bag and deep fry them. Mine weren't even cooked all the way. If you don'tknow REAL mexican food you won't know the difference. If you do, steer clear. This location is a 1-poor for me. They don'tprepare meals from scratch. They should watch a season/episode of Gordan Ramsey to understand that people can buy bags of foodat home and do what they did. We go out to dine so 1. We don't have to cook and 2. Food was great like always! The spicy cheese sticks were amazing! The waiter was so chill and attentive, our drinks were never... empty. I wish I could remember his name. Try the spicy salsa.... you have to ask for it. The jalapeño cream tastes a lot likesoup so I don't end up getting their queso. The stuffed sopapilla and enchilada were spectacular.
