Reviews for H & H in Macon, GA
Authentic soul food in Macon, GA. We tried the country fried steak, beef tips and rice, squash casserole, collards, cheese grits... and biscuits. All were good choices. The waiting staff and cooks are so inviting and friendly. The brunch the folks were eatingbeside us looked yummy also. Read more
The food overall was delicious the only complaint is TOO MUCH SALT! The mash potatoes were just drenched in salt and the fried... chicken. The banana pudding was amazing and well worth $4! The staff was friendly! Read more
What a great place! H&H has a rich history, but they don?t rest on history; they make great food every day! We have heard about... this place for a long time but finally dropped by for lunch. It was a good decision. We will be back when we are in the area. Read more

This is an institution and is a well known place on the Macon landscape. Founded in 1959 by Inez Hill and Louise Hudson, H&H... Restaurant has been a regular hangout for the locals and some rather famous musicians such as the Allman brothers, as this placeis within walking distance of Capricorn Studios. Don't let the outside of the building facing the street fool you. It is rathernon-descript. Parking on the side. Food is excellent. Very friendly service and a must stop and see place if you are touringMacon. Read more
Midnight rider chicken biscuit was very good, tasty with lots of flavor. Chicken and waffle was flavorful, juicy, and good... seasonings. The waffle was good, not anything great but good. The steak was disappointing super thin almost paper thin overcooked and didn't taste great. Eggs were spot on and biscuits were great. Service was really good. Very friendly server walkedus through the history of the place and the menu. Read more
We went today and I was SO DISAPPOINTED! The Mac and cheese was dried and lukewarm. You tell by the taste that there was no... seasoning, Aad this being a soul food restaurant. The soul rolls were reheated and old. The banana pudding was sour. Thebananas had gone bad. So. If you are looking for a place to eat in Macon....SKIP IT!!! Read more
Almost the same vibe as when we met and took a photo with Mama Louise there when having lunch several years ago . Still have my... t shirt. We got there just in time for breakfast ( Yum- and delish coffee too ). It soon began filling up with the lunch crowdas we enjoyed our late breakfast. We HAD to take home to Tennessee the fried chicken ( which was just as good as I remembered). Collard Greens, squash casserole and rice with gravy all also delicious. Didn?t need any extra seasoning at all. Lots ofconstruction nearby but I?m so glad the new owners kept the same decor and menu as before. Loved it. Read more
