Menu for Manna Cafe & Bakery in Madison, WI

We went to Manna last Saturday as a party of four. It was my first time there, and I ordered oatmeal pancakes, which were... delicious. I also tried their quiche and it was also good. The place has a fireplace for waiting and paintings hanging on thewalls. It was however quite packed, and after finishing we had to rush as people were waiting. In my youth I used to manage more than one restaurant that I cooked at as well. I also assisted with catering menus. Of course... this wasn't in Madison, and was in city with several five star restaurants, and far better food than anything I will everexperience here, sadly. I waited over an hour to be seated and over an hour for my pathetic watery undercooked scrambled eggsto arrive that were completely inedible. The pittance of a fruit bowl contained a couple of slices of strawberries and threegrapes. My brunch companion complained that her food was inedible as well. I find it shocking that so many Madison people enjoyeating here. Are they all Heavy smokers and seriously hungover? Where are there taste buds? While my palate is certainly not ascultured and well-groomed as others, your half-hearted approximation to serve something that was slightly edible was a failedattempt on every level. P.S. We experienced no level of customer service here except lack thereof. I have had better dinergreasy spoon food and better service than what I experienced here. Read more

This place was a trip. I realize I live in Madison, and I'm getting old, but I walked in to see a scraggly guy standing behind a... sign that said something about seeing the host for a table. He asked me about needing a table and I was taken aback to realizethis man was the host. There was a guy with facial tattoos and piercings... Just like a really inclusive place to work and dine.(See the restroom picture) You get a number and directed to a table. You look over the menu and when you figure out what youwant, you order at the counter. Drinks are yelled out, but food is brought to your table. Water is self-serve. The food wasreally good. I ordered a rueben and eggs Benedict. I tried the potatoes and the cheesy potatoes. We tried the apricot cheesecakeand the key lime pie. My dining partner choose the turkey club omelette. Loved the patio. Had breakfast with my husband and dog, Walter. I searched for the best breakfast burrito near Madison and this... place was always in the top 3 if not #1. I wasn't disappointed! Fresh small side of salsa and my side was the cheesy hashbrowns. Can't wait to finish my leftovers. So good. Read more
