It was a cold and snowy evening. I found this place on Yelp and came by for dinner after a long work day. It was quiet on a... Tuesday evening. There was only 2 other customer at the time. I grew up eating korean Bbq almost 3 or 4 times a week. Having missed out on true korean food moving to madison I was very... excited to get some Kalbi finally. I did, prices were as expected for the midwest. It was pretty good, I was impressed. Manyplaces absolutely butcher Kalbi (no pun intended). But I?ve came back twice and had what I expected to be Delicious Chapchaeover rice, was extremely bland noodles with beef over rice. It?s so sad to see such a beautiful dish totally ruined by a lack ofany discernible flavor. Same goes for the beef bokum, so much potential, and so much disappointment. In summary, Kalbi wasgreat. This review is based on my memory more than 10 years ago while New Seoul was still located along Old University Ave. It was my... first Korean restaurant experience after a ski day in 2004. Every dish was delicious and perfect for the cold winter day. Sincethen, I stopped by regularly as being a graduate student. Overall all the memory was positive and I am happy the place is stillaround in 2022. One star off is because the food selection/ authenticity is not the best compared to other Korean restaurantsout of the Madison area. Read more
