We were at UMI for a birthday celebration. Ivan, the chef was very nice. From appetizers, sashimi, arrays of sushi and desserts... were all great. Only the sauce of the appetizer scallop is quite sweet for me. The scallops were a bit overcooked. The price isvery reasonable at this level of service and quality of food. Read more

Yesterday evening my girlfriend and I tried out Sushi Umi to celebrate our anniversary.\n\nThe restaurant is a bit tucked away... and on the opposite side from the main parking lot, so it did take us a moment to find it, but the interior is very nice,exceptionally clean, and has a very unique ambiance. It is very much so catering to an experience rather than justfood.\n\nDuring our experience, we were the only couple who showed up right on time so we had some time to quietly watch thechef at work and chat amongst ourselves. The music was peaceful, and it was quiet enough for us to whisper amongst ourselves.The service was very quick to provide us with drinks, refills, napkins etc. As well as the Chef asked if we were ready tobegin.\n\nThe Omakase experience was exceptional. Everything we ate was very carefully crafted and the chef showed great skill.My favorite piece personally was the Wagyu roll or the Otoro roll, which literally melted in our mouths.\n\nOverall, the totalexperience lasted 70-90 minutes and with an additional Wagyu roll cost us around 220$ including tax and tip (we do not drink soadjust accordingly).\n\nOverall, we had a very nice time. While this is more of a special occasion stop as we are in our mid20s, I would definitely recommend it as the food, and experience was a welcoming treat. This was my first time going to Sushi Umi and it was a PHENOMENAL experience. I would return here in a heart-beat.\n\nThe black... cod starter course is so well seasoned and balanced, with a ton of umami flavor and smooth texture. The fish, especially thedifferent types of tuna (Chutoro, Otoro and Akami) that they offer are fresh with satisfying portions. The pieces are simple,and highlight the natural flavors of the fish. My absolute favorite are the lightly torched Otoro (it has the delicioussmoky/char flavor with a hint of tuna fat), Foie Gras with sea urchin (very creamy and delicious) and the scallop with caviar ontop (exploding taste of the ocean, full of umami). All the flavors of the nigiri work so perfectly together, nothing was toooverwhelming, just perfect.\n\nThe staff is incredibly professional and the interior is a cozy date night spot. If you\'re inthe area, definitely stop by for a nice dinner. It\'s a perfect entry into fancier cuts of fish or omakase style dining at veryreasonable prices! Read more

The food here was very fresh with many of it\'s fresh ingredients flown in direct from Japan. The uni was slightly disappointing... as it was very cold when served and unfortunately muted the other flavours in the bite as a result. The fish were the standardtypes that you would get in an omakase, however the menu was not on par with the price point at $168. There was not very muchexplanation without prompting, but both host and chef staff were both very friendly. Read more
