Ate dinner at the bar on Tuesday, 11/2. Food is great when they get it right but Wildwood had started going downhill before... covid. First we didn't get the basket of bread that is complimentary, walked to the bar to ask since our waiter was clearly inover his head with us and one other table (the waiter working with him had the five tables behind us). Our waiter had just takenan order and was manually entering in to the system, since they haven't invested in tablets, and I waited until he was donebefore asking. When he turned around I asked if we could get bread to which he said "I am only one man". When he came to thetable with the bread basket he made light of it but clearly had just come in from having a cigarette absolutely reeking ofsmoke, obvious no attempt to wash his hands or grab a piece of gum. Between the five of us we had the bourbon steak tips,chicken madiera, fish tacos, and two burgers. Food took about 30 min to come which was very reasonable, especially since thiswas unusually busy for a Tuesday, but only the chicken and tips came. 20 minutes later the fish tacos and one burger came, and20 min from that the 2nd burger came. Unfortunately we waited to eat until everyone had their food, and the tips and chickenwere just too cold and garlic herb mashed potatoes had turned into a gelatinous clump. Fish tacos had 5 French fries, 2nd burgerwas burnt beyond being edible (asked for medium), and no sign of the manager. On the way out the matre d' and his helper werehanging out and chatting, didn't bother to acknowledge us or ask how our meal was, and at that point we stopped by Burger Kingon the way home and took the loss We've lived in Marlborough for 15 years and this was always our go-to spot, but over the past4-5 years it's obvious that the owners have given up on this place. Hands down the worst experience I?ve ever had in a restaurant. Bartender was an older gentlemen who could not effectively do... his job anymore. I know you need to pay the bills but there?s a point where you need to switch to a less demanding job. Themanager was about 80 years old and when I had a complaint about the 2 in a half hour wait about food he made excuses like theyhad a party for 6 hours? it was 7pm and they open at 4:30pm? so the manager lied to us. The meals were pretty cold by the timethey hit the table. Two of the five of us didn?t even eat our meals. We wanted them taken off and they wouldn?t. We entered thebuilding at 5:15pm and didn?t leave until 9pm due to how long everything took to get to the table. That includes simple thingslike waters? all the way til we got the entrees. I?ve been a restaurant manager? I?ve worked back and front of house in manyrestaurants. I would hate to have a manager like that gentlemen representing my restaurant. Wildwood Steakhouse! Excellent restaurant. Service is top notch, food always great. Tonight was no exception. Three in our... party, two 10 oz wildwood sirloin, 1 shrimp scampi. Apps shrimp cocktail, clam chowder. Desert 2 cheesecake, 1 creme Brule. Verybusy wait staff always friendly, accommodating. Kitchen was a bit backed up, food arrived hot, well prepared, and as alwayscooked to order. Atmosphere is great for families, even with a busy restaurant floor, conversation at the table was easy tohear. All in all a great experience yet again, that is the reason we come back! Great service. Excellent food. Totally feels like stepping back in time but in a very nice way.
