My husband and I found this place on our way home from vacation and we could not have asked for a better note to end it on! We... chose the restaurant based on reviews and we were NOT disappointed! Doni fixed us up with a sampler plate and every bite wasdelicious! The brisket melted in our mouths, the pork ribs were perfectly cooked, and both types of sausage, including thealligator, were great too! My husband said the pinto beans were the best he's ever had! Marianne's key lime pie was pureperfection as well - not too tart, not too sweet! All her other homemade desserts looked so tempting it was difficult to choosejust one! The leftovers fed us two more times and the meat was tender and juicy even after being reheated in the microwave. Myonly regret was that we didn't have an ice chest so we could bring more of it home! As good as the food was, the wholeexperience was made even better by the wonderful time we spent visiting with Doni and Marianne. They were both so warm andfriendly and they shared many fascinating stories about their lives and time in the entertainment and restaurant businesses.Great food, great conversation, and the great "been there forever-stepping back in time ambiance" they have created-who can askfor anything else?? Make it a point to stop by as many times as you can. It will be time and calories well spent! I have afeeling you will never be disappointed. And bring an ice chest!
