Visiting Mason City from Utah and I have a hobby of visiting any local breweries I can find when traveling, so I had to stop in... Fat Hill Brewing. The decor was amazing, the atmosphere was super fun and inviting, and the employees were incredibly friendly,but the best part was that after a flight and several pints of different varieties, there wasn?t a single beer that I didn?tfawn over. I was particularly fond of their Rongorongo NEIPA, but the German lager with honey, sour ale, smoked stout, porterand more were all winners. I went to Fat Hill to meet some friends. I ordered a drink that was not to my liking at all. I asked the bartender if she could... please switch it to something else hoping she would help me out. Her response was, "No, can't you give it to a friend?" I'llnever go back. I ended up drinking a water until my friends drank their beer and we all left. Read more

The taproom space is legit. Really nice layout and use of space. Unfortunately the proverbial carpet (beer) doesn't match the... drapes. Beer we tried was just ok, tried an IPA and pale ale. Can't help wonder if the beer lines are not as clean as I wouldhope. Going with 4 stars as maybe it was just our choice of beers and will try something else if I return to Mason City. Read more
