My wife and I love to kayak and have been on most rivers in Tennessee. Hands down this is the coolest outfitter! We really like... the vibe, the food, the music and the shuttling service. To top it all off, they are dog friendly on their patio. They shouldfranchise! Read more
I have kayaked with Smooth Rapids twice. Both experiences were great and smooth (indeed). The first time, we used our own kayaks... and only used their shuttle service and campgrounds. Second time, my family and I rented their kayaks. We're glad we did thattime because the water level was quite low and it was a rough ride in some parts. We got stuck a couple of times but nothingthat cannot be resolved easily. Staff is always nice, helpful, and friendly. Scheduling through their website was no hassle.Overall, would definitely recommend their services for a nice, stress-free kayaking trip. The campgrounds were also neat. Theyalso have a restaurant which we have yet to try but I'm sure it's also good and when we went camping there, they had live musicgoing on that evening. River itself was beautiful. We love how it's not super deep and wide. Easy enough to get off and on theboat and can find many places to stop for a break. Read more
Restaurant staff left MUCH to be desired. They were extremely friendly with the locals, but those of us visiting they seemed to... ignore. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come back to our table after bringing our drinks, and they never did. I had toplace our order at the counter. A table next to us was seated and served immediately, and they were clearly regulars who knewthe waitstaff. We then waited another 20 minutes for our order to be brought to us - still no server came to check on us. Lunchrush is understandable. Poor service is not. The food, once we finally received it, was delicious. The kayak rental staff wereclearly very young and need some serious coaching about customer service. They took our waiver info and left us on our own afterthat to find life jackets, paddles, the kayaks and load into the river. We were fine, but had we been first time kayakers orwith kids, I would have been very unhappy at the lack of assistance. The river float experience itself was beautiful and justour speed. We were very happy with it. We did have to wait quite awhile for the shuttle, and once it did, the young staff againweren’t very helpful and gave no direction. The wait for the shuttle was understandable as it was a summer weekend day. Theabsence of anything resembling customer service was not. The only reason for 3 stars is the quality of the float experience andthe food. I had to dock a star for each poor customer service experience because they were THAT BAD. Do better. Read more
