Food was fantastic. First course: we had the onion knot and English muffin Pate. Only note was the ricotta could have used a... pinch of salt, but given health concerns for some people I understand limiting sodium. Second course: we had the Speck Ham andBeef Tartare. Usually Beef Tartare is a winner everywhere but the Speck Ham absolutely blew it out of the water. Which is not tosay the Tartare was bad by any right. The Speck Ham is just to die for and will certainly have me coming back. I should note wechecked with our server as fish allergies are important for us, the Tartare does contain Worcestershire Sauce so if you areallergic to fish be aware. Third Course: we had the Pumpkin Tortaleni and the Green Oak Leaf Lettuce, both were so fantastic weforgot to take pictures. Definitely take you server's advice on the Oak Leaf and mix the salad with the fig cream beneath as itmakes the dish absolutely wonderful. Fourth Course: we had the Oxtail Spätzle and the Porck Chop. Both were fantastic entrees. My only real note is I wish I had some bread for the pork chop since the juice from the pork chop mixes with the demi glace /aujus and I just want to have something to wipe it up so I don't have to lick the plate clean. Our server Dan was absolutelyfantastic, he help accommodate our time constraints to the best of his ability. We put in our note we need to be somewhere atseven, the realized we needed to leave earlier. 10/10 service for sure. Read more

Exceeded my already high expectations. Went there for our 10th anniversary and everything was wonderful. Such a perfect... combination of elegant and laid back. It's like having a fancy dinner at your best friend's house. I loved the fixed tastingmenu it made it so easy and all of the food was delicious. Absolutely top notch service! Read more

This is our favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. From the space (indoor or patio), to service to food; it is top notch from... start to finish. This is our go-to place for any special occasion. I’ve never had a mediocre meal here, nor have I had badservice. If they know it is a special occasion, they strive to make it feel truly special. Example: tonight was my birthday, andthey brought us a glass of bubbly to start (gratis) and an aperitif before dessert. (also gratis) I can’t say enough greatthings about this restaurant. They were one of 3 we made a point of doing take out from during the pandemic to make sure theystayed open. (though we missed that service element when it was take out) You cannot miss if you go here!! Read more

This sounds so cliché that I kind of hate myself for writing it, but it's the most accurate way to describe my experience: they... treat you like family. From the minute I walked in the door until I left I was taken care of in the most professional andfriendly manner: the service was second-to-none. It was, however, was slightly overshadowed by the amazing food. Deliciousfood. Fantastically delectable food! Oh my gawd the food. I cannot stress enough how meaningful this statement is coming fromme, but every opportunity I get to dine out will henceforth - when under my control- be at Joan's. I cannot wait to go back, andif you're on the fence, frankly you're wasting valuable time when you could be drinking beautiful wine and eating gorgeoushandmade delicacies with genuinely warm, smart, friendly people. Recently went for our anniversary, and let me tell you, this place continues to overdeliver! Absolutely fantastic experience!... The service is amazing, the food is good, and you really feel like the staff love their jobs and love having you. The setting isincredibly intimate. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a quiet and low-key (but still special) celebration! The filet, pork chop, heirloom tomatoes, and brown butter pudding dessert were the highlights of the meal!
