I hate to say anything bad but I hope the owner read this as constructive criticism. First we got the $60 meat platter. The ribs... were so dry. The burnt ends were really burnt. Will not get that again. Please do not serve them if they are too burnt. Brisketwas very juicy. BBQ sauce was delicious. Our sides was mashed potatoes which had no flavor and needed some butter. The potatosalad lack flavors. Need some spices.The collard greens were too sweet and you need to get a new recipe. Order a side of collardgreens from American soul food in Meriden and you will have the best flavor. Mac and cheese was too much cheese sauce and lackflavor. We would stay and had dessert but the lady bartender voice was so loud that every time she laugh. There was a screechingecho thru out the whole area that we could not sit there any longer. We also told our waitress that all of our food came outcold. She said that they probably did not stir the food in the warmer. Taino Smokehouse is an amazingly beautiful restaurant for anyone who loves western themed décor. The interior design will bring... you right to Montana, Wyoming or New Mexico with its Native Indian presence. Big space. Two floors. Regulars say it's packed onweekends. I can see why. The event I attended had three appetizers out for guests. One was a cubed bacon or pork belly -flavorful but chewy; another was sliced kielbasa - a reliable dish; and the third was a spicy shrimp which had some heat. Someguests ordered off of the regular menu which has everything from house ground beef for hamburgers to dry aged beef from theirown aging room for steak selections. Market priced. Impressive. There are separate stations for baked desserts and takeout orfood by the pound orders , with tables to sit down and eat after picking up if desired, but they did not look open now. The baris really large and well stocked. 4.8 rating, just short of five, because I didn't actually have an entrée or barbecue dish soI can't judge their kitchen fully. Had the chance to visit Tainos Primehouse recently and I really enjoyed it. Ive been to the Middletown location a few times, so... I was pumped to check out the higher scale Meriden Location. Everything was great, the staff was very helpful and all the foodcame out really fast. We started with the bbq egg rolls that were pretty good. For my main, I ordered the brisket that was veryflavorful. Super moist and very tender. The sides were ok, but the cornbeard was the standout. That brown butter hit on anotherlevel. I was also impressed with their drink selections. Theres a good selection of local beers to choose from. Overall, aGreat place for a higher quality steak or bbq dining experience. Read more
