Great food! Fast service! Attentive waitstaff! The food here was so amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never... before eaten Colombian food, but after looking at the menu online first I walked in knowing what I wanted! I had the scrambledHuevos Al Gusto breakfast with tomatoes and onions which is served all day. I chose the Queso Arepa and the dark Colombiancoffee (included in the cost of the meal). I also had my dessert -- Queso Con Dolce with blackberry sauce -- served with mymeal. My friend had the Arroz Con Pollo which she allowed me to sample -- the serving portion was huge! And the flavors in therice dish were delicious beyond description. She also had the guayaba juice and hot chocolate. We shared the yummy crispy sweetplantains and chicken empanadas. I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but the delicious aroma drew me in immediately and Ididn't think about photos until after I'd eaten most of it! This was a great little restaurant with excellent service. Theinterior was very colorful. I really liked the cute little tile-roofed cottages on the walls. I will go out of my way to eathere again! In fact I wish I had been able to try more things while I was there today! Read more

Not terrible but not good either. Cold hard plaintains, a tiny cold piece of chicharon, some tasteless meat dust and an arepa... that was the size, taste and texture of a communion wafer. Maybe they got confused because it?s Ash Wednesday. Actually onsecond thought, it was pretty terrible. I was the only customer at lunchtime. Pretty obvious why. Oh and it was $15 for that. Read more

LaTiendita is a cute little Columbian restaurant in the heart of Main St in Mesa. When you enter, you're suddenly transported to... the beautiful country of Columbia with many locals seated and enjoying the authentic dishes. From what I read they opened in2010 and since I've lived here since 1983, I can't believe I've never heard of it. Apparently, this restaurant is the onlyColombian restaurant in the state of Arizona and has become the center of Columbian cuture, relaxation, community, and deliciousColombian food. This little vibrant restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Since I visited Colombia in December, thesesights and smells recreated the awesome Colombian culture that I experienced south of the border. U I came with a meetup groupand surprisingly they were waiting for all 16 of us with open arms. We tried many of the dishes and many of us shared with thegroup. They served us Arepas, Empanadas, Bandeja Paisa and Roasted Chicken, as well as many desserts.i would highly recommendthis place if you want to get a feel for the food and the culture of Columbia. I selected this restaurant based on its high ratings, but I am baffled as to why it is rated so high. The food was not very good... - frozen food taste in some things, no flavor in others, and too salty in other things. We ordered the bandeja paisa, bisteccriollo, arepa de choclo con queso, beef arepa, and pan de bono. The pan de bono had the frozen food taste, hard and hard tochew. It must have been microwaved prior to serving. The arepa also had the frozen food taste. The empanada was okay but just sosmall for $2. We tried the entrees and the beans lacked flavor. The bandeja paisa had some ground beef looking meat beneath theegg that was very salty. The chicharron and chorizo also lacked flavor (how does that happen??). The food just didn't taste verygood. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not return. I have eaten Colombian food in restaurants in NYC and beenwowed at how flavorful the food is. Specially the bandeja paisa which has such a mix of food that when you put it all togethertastes amazing. I was hoping to have a similar experience in AZ but it just didn't happen at this particular restaurant. Read more
