I?ve been wanting to explore African (Ethiopian) food for a while when a friend recommended Awash and I?m so glad they did!... Great service and delicious food. The restaurant is in a sketchy run down plaza but the inside was very clean. We tried alittle of everything.. beer, sambusa, lamb tibs, Ethiopian honey wine, the tasting plate was perfect because you get to sampleso many things and the price is reasonable ($22 for 2ppl). Everything is super flavorful and eaten with injera. My favorite wasthe chicken doro wot (chicken stew). I took 1 star because I was a little surprised they added an automatic 20% tip to the billfor 5 people. Good service and good food deserves a good tip, I just didn?t like that it was automatically added. We ended thenight with coffee which is served with burning frankincense/myrrh, to rid bad spirits and negative energy. We will definitely beback! Read more

Very underrated cuisine. Unique and tasty flavor profile. We ordered the "Taste of Awash" (sampler)for 2 and it did not... disappoint. Definitely coming back to get whole entrées of the specific dishes we enioyed from the sampler. 4 stars justbecause we wished they were a little bit more generous with the meat. Ordered the chocolate cake as well, which was moist andhad a strong chocolate flavor. The restaurant is a mom and pop, where you can feel the attention and care they put into theplace. The place is in Miami Gardens, but I would say in a better area. Read more

I've visited this restaurant twice with my boyfriend and friends, and the food has always been exceptional. They also love it. I... can't stress enough how delicious these dishes are. I've tried the Meat sambusa, the Lentil sambusa, Special tibs and Awaze tibswhich are delightful. The star is always the Taste of Awash, a base of injera with meat and vegetarian entrees on top. Theexperience of eating this dish is unique. I recommend asking for the Ethiopian style so you and your friends can share and trythe same flavors from the communal tray. There are no utensils (I'm sure they will provide cutlery if you ask for it); yourutensil is the injera (flatbread). It is very easy to eat with it and not messy at all. I recommend not asking for utensils soyou can have the full experience. This restaurant is also excellent for vegetarians since there are many meatless dishes. Theservice is also great. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Awash Ethiopian Restaurant is the only place thatoffers Ethiopian cuisine in Miami, and it is a must if you are a food lover. Read more
