This place was just ok. Corn bread we really loved.My lady had bbq chicken and I had some ribs.Neither were bad or great.Did not... care for the Cole slaw at all.Neat little dining area very busy take out restaurant.Cant say I'd go back as we found the Blueplate diner just up the road and that's more our style. I?m not sure what I expected and I tried this place on a whim based on the 4+ rating, but I certainly didn?t expect what I got.... I ordered two sides and a 1/4 lb of brisket and pulled pork. When I got my food, everything was pulled. Even the brisket. I havenever, ever, in all the BBQ I?ve had, seen pulled brisket. The whole point of brisket is getting nice crisp outsides and tenderinsides. Pulling brisket ruins all of that texture and because it was mushy eviscerates any flavor from the rub. The pulled meatlooked like something that would scooped out of a ladle at a cafeteria. The only flavor came from the sauce, there was barelyany on the actual meat. I can?t say it made it any better though since it just felt like eating wet meat?the sides were fine.Very disappointing. If this is southern smoked bbq, I?m out. Read more
When my husband said he wanted bbq on our way out of Newport I rolled my eyes. I don?t go to coastal New England towns for BBQ... and I wasn?t expecting much in the way of quality BBQ. ?. I was utterly mistaken, this place slaps. Friendly staff, amazingbrisket, quick and professional service. My only regret is not getting the key lime pie, cooler heads prevailed while we wereordering and I bet if its anything like the brisket it was amazing too. Read more
