Call it 4.6 overall, based on one visit. Maya has two areas, the front along Central is the street-food area, and the back area... is for sit-down dining and the bar (photos), all the same kitchen - and patio is in the far back. The bar would be a good placeto watch The World Cup, I imagine; if one were to watch The World Cup. The tomales were among the best I have had in Minnesota. Patio dining looks nice but it was in the 40's when we visited. All food items were good, definitely not spicy or over-spiced(if anything more the opposite) as this feels classic traditional Mexican. They do a nice job with service and creating as goodan atmosphere too. No worries about being too hot/spicy. Definitely recommend. Read more
Based on the reviews we had high expectations. Well, this place was a total disappointment. The food tasted below average, the... price is higher compared to the standard. The staffs are friendly, no doubt in that. But definitely one of the worst tacos I hadin my life. Everything was cold, including the tortilla. The tamales compared to the tacos were a little better. Great food! I had the Cochinita Pibil and I was also able to share the shrimp tacos, our waiter recommended both and we were... very happy! On the Cochinita Pibil, the onion and pepper dish was spicier than I was expecting but really good! The plantainswere fantastic! This place was really big and had a patio! I looked at a trusted food site for brunch recommendations in the Cities and this was on their list. We have a local Mexican... buffet that we really enjoy so we decided to give this a try. I was pretty happy we did. The staff is super friendly andattentive. The mexican food is awesome and leans closer to authentic than our local buffet. I wish they had horchata on thebuffet, but they do not. They do offer orange drink, water, coffe decaf/regular, and a bin of soda cans. The breakfast optionsweren't our favorite, but is that really why someone would go to this brunch? The soup, taco/nacho bar is amazing. Do not missout on the churros. They were a delicious end to the meal and experience. Highly recommend for great mexican food! Read more
