Happy hour was one of the best in town! Food was great. Highly recommend the Cauliflower Bites and the Lollipop Buffalo Chicken.... Fish options looked good, will try them next time! Read more
Service and ambience was very good. But the salad was very obviously grocery store bought in every sense from the greens, the... shredded cheese, the tomatoes to the salad dressing. Complimentary popovers were cold and stale and honestly I've had the samequality burgers from places like Applebee's for much less considering the lettuce and tomato on it suffered from the samegrocery store problems as the salad. The chicken was alright, but unimpressive for the price and the baked potato was prettyplain. The side of Wild Rice was cooked well and definitely the best item of the night but as far as we could tell the onlyspice on it was black pepper. Overall would have expected to pay about 2/3 the price at max for the quality of the food. This could be a great place - not tonight. We had a party of 7 for my daughter's birthday. The place was almost empty and... the service poor. Ordered bottle of Chardonnay and got Cabernet Sauvignon ??? They recovered from this quickly.. Pop Overswere cold. Meals were slow in coming and cool to luke warm - not hot !!! A girlfriend and I had dinner here last night and it was the most amazing experience!! Our server John was extremely... knowledgeable and helpful with menu selections when asked. My steak was so tender and flavorful I had to thank Chef Jasonpersonally! Beautiful restaurant in a nice area by the Stone Arch Bridge. I will definitely go back to this restaurant nexttime I am in Minneapolis. Read more

The execution of everything at Smith & Porter just misses. It's a little too brightly-lit to feel intimate. The prices are a... little too high and the drinks a little too small. The place setting and glassware were classy and appropriate but then thenapkin was like a cheesecloth kind of thing. That's not a sin, but like what are we doing here? Where is this leading? Thechairs are too wide??? The fries are ten bucks, but they aren't prepared correctly. You have to fry twice, once at a lowertemp. I think here they fried them once, for longer, and the result is a soggy, burnt, sad little pile of floppy brown platefodder that you'd rather not have there at all. You will pay them ten dollars for this. I dunno. I will say everything wasclean, and service was professional. I guess I expected more, I certainly feel like I paid for more. Read more
