The food is fantastic. Authentic Punjabi / Indian food which you will get in India itself. The washrooms need real work. The... washrooms were not in good state. Hence one star less. Read more

Let me dive into the core of the matter here; the food! You will not get Canadianized versions of Indian dishes here. I... appreciate them respecting the authenticity of north Indian dishes with no-nonsense of dousing most of the dishes with heavycreams or sugars and making the dishes bland. Rather, relying on delivering taste and quality via traditional cookingtechniques, fresh ingredients and spices. There are certain dishes that are based on cream/malai, and those dishes do justicehere. Taste is subjective. Therefore, take my review "with a grain of Salt"; decide for yourself and "do not sit on a bench-markof taste" until you try this place (Puns intended). Tried several dishes and they are rated individually from 1 star as worstto 5 as best rating: Paneer Malai Tikka platter ***** Veg Manchurian balls dry ***** Lehsuni Daal tadka ***** Paneer TikkaMasala **** Butter Chicken ***** Chole Bhature **** Butter naan + Garlic naan + Tawa Roti ***** Ras malai ** (the consistency ofras/milk was almost of kheer and tasted good, but the paneer chamcham inside did not soak any ras and was very hard, there isroom for improvement on this Dessert) Complimentary Salad and chutneys **** The meaning of Apna Pind literally means OurVillage or Our Motherland. With the patio seating having rope knitted beds and wooden bed boards as tables, the desi music, thelighting, the kites as decor, copper glasses and bottles, a farm tractor in the front yard; and especially the intense nostalgicand aromatic smells of smoked and tempered spices and herbs "Tadka" from their kitchen to the parking lot catches yourattention; and reminds you of the roadside Dhabas of India. The servers Jasmeet and Jasmine (if I remember their names correctly)were very welcoming, engaging and bubbly while interacting with us. This is also a plus point and an apnapan factor that you getin small towns or villages of India. Food was served pretty fast. My 6 y/o daughter who has never been to India, but only Read more

I was really excited to go to this restaurant, but I was terribly disappointed. We order a la carte and expected to share the... food, but the food was not properly proportioned. So for example a butter chicken had 3 small pieces measuring 2 inch by 1inch in size of chicken, did not look like they put any cream in the butter chicken. Chicken biryani had tons of onions lyingaround and 3 pieces of chicken 2 inch by 1 inch in size. It did not taste like chicken biryani. Chicken pyaasa also had3-4/pieces of chicken 2 inch by 1 inch in size and countless onions. I would only recommend it if you are going for vegcuisine. The tea we drank was more sugar and less tea. The noodles with chicken were actually pasta with chicken and tons ofsalt. We had to return the "noodles". My kids didn't eat anything. Extremely disappointed. Servers could not handle ourparty of 12. Water pitchers was enough for 3 people, we had to keep asking for refills which came with warm water. Once thefood came on the table, servers disappeared. For the amount of food we got I think they are overpriced. All in all I will notgo there again. Read more

The aesthetics of this eatery is very inviting from outside, giving a typical Indian ?dhaba? (truck stop) concept. They even... have outdoor seatings with the manja/charpai beds outside, where you can choose to dine in during summer. We ordered the paneerLababdar, along with naan, gulab jamun for dessert and masala chai. Naan was on the thicker side which makes it verypleasurable that would complement thick gravy dishes very well. The paneer Lababdar had generous portions of paneer with anappreciable level of fenugreek taste in it, although the gravy did give off a tiny bit of sweetness which was a slight pity forme. The gulab jamun was served hot without being overpoweringly sweet but instead allowed the shy cardamom flavour to blendwith the syrup. For the masala chai, it was done at a good level and once again, not overwhelmingly sweet. All in all, I dolook forward to visiting them again to try their dishes. With friendly staff providing excellent service despite a busy Fridaynight, unique complementary post meal refreshments such as jaggery and promising food tastes at very affordable prices, I amdefinitely going to be back.
