Hummingbird Way is one of those rare establishments that operates successfully on all levels. The dishes and cocktails are... clever and delicious, sourced with high quality, local ingredients. The quality and handling of their seafood is exceptional. Ihighly recommend sampling the regional and local oyster selection as well as any of the seasonal catch entrees. The wine list iswell-curated and impressive at all price points. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. The service is well executed -our server discussed our preferred pacing and order of dishes ahead of time so that our experience wasn't rushed or unbalanced.We brought our younger child to the restaurant, which might be unusual in a formal dining setting, but our server handled herorders with the same respect and care as the adults. Towards the end of our meal, chef Jim Smith took time to visit each tableand check on his guests. Will definitely make this our preferred restaurant for many years to come! Delicious and fantastic experience. The drinks were amazing, the app which was the fried shrimp and oysters was divine (heads... up, it’s the whole shrimp, head and all), and the dishes we got were beyond great. I made a reservation through Resy, the platform they use through their site. When we got there, we were sat fairly quickly. I... ordered a Magic Hour cocktail, it was a tad sweet but it was good. We ordered the marinated sauteed crab claws and it remindedme of sweet fish sauce with mint leaves, which was pretty good. I ordered the Hanger steak as my entree. When I got it, it wasslightly more rare than I'd like, I had to send it back to cook a little longer on the grill, my eggs I asked to be over mediumbut overcooked. I took my mom here for her birthday and we were very impressed! Prior to ordering, I was reminded by my mom that this is the... chef’s passion and is why I was drawn to choose the tasting menu over the a la carte. Starting off, the chef was kind enoughto accommodate changes to the first course, due to my mom being pregnant. While I had the oyster, she had the roasted beets.Both amazing! We also added stone crab claws…because have you had them? You can’t NOT order them. Second course we had theoyster “bisque”. It was the perfect amount of sweet and salty. It was also not heavy at all, which was great to have roomfor the main course. However, I could have had a quart of the soup for dinner. As for the grouper (main course) I was skepticalabout the puree, but the chef again did not disappoint. The carrots, grouper, and puree paired perfectly. For dessert we had abiscotti and a chocolate spread (menu attached below for specifics). The biscotti was the best I have ever had, perfect perfectperfect. Disregard bad reviews, we had a great overall experience! After reading the website and finding out the ingredients areall LOCAL AND FRESH, the price does not matter to me. (IMO) If you enjoy a good meal, not scared of venturing out, and tryingnew things this is the spot for you! Definitely will be returning for more birthday dinners, next is my pawpaws in April.
