Evidently it was short staffed and the bartender was trying to handle the restaurant. It was our first time there, and while it... was unfortunate they were short staffed, they were still friendly. However, the food took a very long time (which makes sensesince they only had one cook apparently) and when I got my food finally it was lukewarm. Whatever is causing their shortstaffing (Wages? Poor management? Luck of the draw?) Is taking its toll on the dining aspect. Read more

We ate at the restaurant for dinner on our honeymoon 30 years ago. Since back in the area we came once again. The food and... service were great. Very historic place. Next time hopefully we wont wait 30 years to come back. Read more

This review of for the restaurant, my husband and I went there for Sunday dinner. We should have walked out when we sat down and... table was sticky. My meal was disgusting. Meat was slimy, veggies were flavorless and soggy and the potatoes were instantpotatoes with no flavor for $25 My husband order a taco bowl with tater tots. The tater tots were soggy and flavorless and theycame as an appetizer not part of his meal. The taco bowl was burnt, everything in it was extremely dry and flavorless. The foodtook forever to get and when we got it it was inedible. When we spoke to the waitress she said she was going to let the cookknow and made no attempt to comp anything or make anything right. The hotel looked great and the bar was full of happy people. The restaurant was empty. Now we know why. Read more

Having been in the restaurant industry and having friends who own restaurants, it pains me to write negative reviews because... things are especially tough right now and I like to think folks are doing the best they can. But our experience dining at thesaloon was so unacceptable I had to say something. My husband and I were celebrating our 12th anniversary this weekend andthought we'd try a new place so we could have someplace more local to recommend to family staying with us ( we live in SanAndreas). I thought the reviews looked good and was excited to try the seafood Benedict with crab and lobster cakes. The servicewas underwhelming (it was clear the lady running it was entirely bored with her job). My husband ordered his basic breakfast.Nothing particularly bad but his hash browns were barely cooked and luke warm, and the toast was barely toasted. Regardless itwould have been fine if mine hadn't been a disaster. All that was needed was for the chef to say "hey we're out of that, do youwant something different" but instead I got two bare toasted English muffins with two small pieces of what looked like lastnight's salmon, and some small chunks of shrimp. No eggs. The fact that the server allowed that out of the kitchen is alsoembarrassing. I asked her for a different Benedict. My partner was almost finished with his meal when the replacement came out.I couldn't believe that the chef had actually reused the English muffins (so the meal just reeked of salmon) and didn't replacethe hollandaise sauce that I'd had on the side (cold and congealed). I asked for fresh sauce and what was brought out waschunky, separated and looked like the chef was irritated and just dumped mine into a new bowl. There was no recovering afterthat. We decided to leave. At that point my husband was so irritated he literally wanted to leave without paying but I told himI'd cover it. I'm actually stunned that the server had the nerve to charge us full price for what she even acknowle Read more
