Ordinarily I like this place but I had a terrible experience there today. My friend and I were walking around town. We popped in... here spontaneously and ordered one smoothie to share, thinking it would take a couple of minutes. After all, there were only twoother customers in the store (one of whom ordered after us) and at least six employees behind the counter. We waited no lessthan 10 minutes for the drink to be made. (Ten minutes may sound like no time at all but we had toddlers with us. It felt likean eternity.) We couldn't understand how it could possible take that long to make one drink. After ten minutes I couldn't takeit anymore so I exclaimed "Does it always take ten minutes to make one drink here?" (Admittedly not my kindest response but Iwas trying to communicate my frustration). One of the employees fired back, "Your drink is being made! You need to be patient!"We then waited another five minutes for the drink. As a business owner myself, I feel empathy for the owner of this business whoprobably has a ton of rent to pay and and is losing customers because their employees appear to be completely unconcerned withtheir customer's experience. Amazing place to get you playa-bowls, Acai bowl, smoothies, and organic juices. Beautiful set-up and a very photogenic place.
I love playa bowl and loved coming to the Montclair location until today. I always pay extra to add peanut butter to my bowl and... never has any issues. When I get the bowl the peanut butter is nonexistent. When I got back inside to tell the young lady (theasian one) that they barely put anything she was very rude and said ?I know what I put there, if you want more you need to paymore?. This is NOT the customer service that I?m used to receiving here. Me or my family will no longer be coming here. Werather travel and go to the Rutherford location. I usually order for pick up and am fine with waiting since I used to work a service job and know how busy it can get but the... attitude I got was ridiculous. I was just waiting by the pick up window, not even being annoying in the window like a lot ofcustomers are, I was just off to the side patiently waiting, but the person who asked who I was picking up for acted as if I wasbarking at them and being insanely annoying because her attitude was just unbelievable. She had such a sour face and evenanother customer next to me noticed it and was shocked at how rude she was. The service used to be so much better months andmonths ago, I miss those employees. September 27th around 8:15am My Husband and I have been getting Playa Bowls all of this weeks since it's convenient, a... healthier option, and tbh tastes good. But today, I got a half filled bowl. For context, I've had playa bowls for 5+ years indifferent locations and never had any issue. Anyways, we went back to have them make an actual full bowl, which is what we paidfor. This chick with red braided hair rolled her eyes which is a sign of disrespect but she did say sure vs anything rude. As Ithought things were looking up. They didn't make a new bowl. When I got the bowl it looks like the same Nutella bowl with morebananas. The Açai is only filled Exactly and 1 inch of a slightly over 4.5 inch bowl. There's granola mostly in one side. Theydidn't even bother adding Nutella the one side. Update: I decided to give it another go since I have gotten great service andnever really had issues other then that one time with the bowl. I always order the Nutella Acai Bowl without the coconut flakesand most of the time without the strawberry. Since then I never had a problem, my bowl was filled like usual and better servicetoo.
