Catfish and hush puppies was very small. Tasted okay but wasn't impressed. Seen the reviews and had high hopes. On a good... note, the salad was very good. Tomatoes tasted like they just came out of a garden. Sad note, had been thinking all day aboutthis catfish dinner, was let down. Read more
I love the food I tried the fried green tomatoes for the first time. The restaurant looks small but it's actually pretty big .... It has a dining area a two patios and a bar. The service was good. The only thing that needs Improvement is the bathroom itsmells. It is definitely worth trying. Read more
Huckleberry's has the best highway signage ever - I almost had to take a picture and ask the owner for the name of who did it ~... very appealing. Upon arriving there was one table seated and the staff indicated I should seat myself... 10 minutes later Ialmost gave up and left having seen no more of the staff nor smelling any food from the kitchen. However perseverance pays offand I soon had a bottle of IPA, fried green tomatoes and catfish bites in front of me. The dipping sauce for the tomatoes had anice kick even if it was a little too salty and the tartar sauce for the fish was pretty fabulous. The breading on both fish andtomatoes was light and my order came out fast and hot once placed. The staff was genuinely friendly and the other diners thatarrived during my meal seemed local regulars. While spending a weekend at a rustic cabin near Tamms IL, my wife and I tried Huckleberry's from a recommendation on the... Southern IL Eats' Facebook page. This venture was far from a disappointment. The food was yummy, prepared with care and was verywell plated, the zervice was impecable, they were bit short handed but we were in no hurry. If you are passing through orhiding out in deep Southern IL for a few days, do not skip Huckleberry's , you would be missing out on a gem of a localeatery. Don't forget to tip your server.
