Been here a few times and always great food. Best bbq in Nanaimo. Almost as good as a few bbq places I've been to in Texas.
I've been a customer here since 2016 and more regularly since moving to Nanaimo proper. I cannot say enough good things about... this establishment. For starters, you'd be hard pressed to find a more passionate and friendly chef and hard-working, equallyfriendly crew. I love seeing them every time I go in and they go the extra mile to make sure you're happy. They stand by whatthey make and it shows! Secondly, the food is very reasonably priced for the portions. Sometimes, you go to a place, eat food,and you're hungry again an hour or two later. This is NOT the case here. The portions are large, filling, and extremely tasty!My favorite menu item is their pulled pork poutine (pictured) and there are times I can barely finish it because there's somuch. Money well spent for a good hearty meal! (Yes, the poutine here is a meal all on its own!) If you're in Nanaimo and youwant good BBQ, stop here. You'll be glad you did! Read more

I was very excited about trying smoking George's out since I moved here last year and finally got the chance to! I ordered the... BBQ feast for takeout. It comes with BBQ ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken, and a bratwurst sausage. Accompanyingthe meal was cornbread, fries, beans, and slaw. We also got BBQ sauce with our meal. Overall good portions for the price andsuper friendly staff! Pickup from the restaurant was easy and efficient as well. However, I was a bit disappointed with themeats. The pulled pork was tender and juicy, tasted great with the sauce. The BBQ ribs were dry and underseasoned, any meat thatdidn't touch the outside was flavorless. Similarly, we expected the beef brisket to be juicy and smokey, but it was dry andrather bland. It was however, quite tender. The chicken was nice, I really enjoyed the pickles with them. Chicken could havebeen juicier too. The bratwurst had good flavors and a nice crunchy skin. We enjoyed our sides a lot, the cornbread was moist,beans were delicious, and the slaw's acidity was perfect with the heavy meats.
