On a Saturday night I walked into the Pelican & Pig. I had no reservation and was offered a seat at the bar overlooking the open... kitchen. It felt like a front row seat- I could see the cooks working, keeping the fires going, prepairing the dishes. Pelican &Pig is not a place that caters to vegans. The cooks are masters of the grill and the menu offers meat and fish. I had thegrilled mahi and a glass of the albarino from Spain. Great food, nice service. Nashville no doubt offers cheaper options, but Iwas very happy at the Pelican & Pig. Read more

I didn't think about taking pictures of all the courses and drinks we had, but it was a lot. We had a very good time here as the... food and the service were excellent. My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant in East Nashville when we were looking for a place for dinner the night we... arrived in Nashville. Our hotel was near the Oprey and this restaurant is about a 13 minute drive way. It is a trendyneighborhood restaurant. The food is wood grilled to order. We ate at the bar where Miranda, bartender, took great care of us.She recommended that we order plates to share as the food comes out as it ready. This was a great suggestion. We ordered thesmoked red fish dip, short ribs, grilled mushrooms and the dirty rice stuffed trout. Everything was wonderful. The wines weregreat and Miranda makes wonderful cocktails. For dessert we had both the pumpkin cheese cake and the chocolate chip cookies.Both are very good. While the food, drinks, and service are wonderful this not a restaurant for vegetarians or vegans as eventhe vegetables had beef fat or dripping.
