Stopped in for lunch as per recommendation.. Did not disappoint. Had the hot mess sandwich and the Nashville hot chicken... sandwich ~~Both great. The porter & was wonderful.the atmosphere was rustic and very comfortable. Unfortunately anything fromthe smoke house on the menu doesn?t start until 4PM. Great, friendly service. Meet the bison Bruce - who is watching all guests day-in, day-out. Rumors say that he may start rolling his eyes once too much... alcohol has been consumed ? Jokes aside, just an excellent place from start to end. Great end-to-end service, friendly andpositive waiters, even if the restaurant is filled to the last seat. I love the food selection, beers and the excellence whiskeymenu. We stayed two days in Nelson and spent both evenings here (first evening for dinner & drinks, second evening for drinksonly). We were very excited to try broken hill, as the BBQ was recommended by friends of ours. Specifically my fiancé and I wanted to... try the brisket. We sat down and ordered (group of 5) and waited about 30-45 minutes. At that point we were getting hungry andexpected food to come soon, instead we waitress came back to tell us they ran out of brisket. She was very apologetic as we wereupset. The manager offered 20% off our meals which we accepted, but were left feeling disappointed. When the food finally didarrive (we had a longer wait as we had to reorder two meals), one of the meals came without sauce which wasn?t noticed untilpartway through the meal. At this point I asked to speak to the manager again and he kindly apologized, making no excuses andlet us know that the food would be free. Overall, both our server and the manager handled the situation well. Had they not cometo the resolution they did I would not be back, but the food that we got was delicious and I would certainly give them a secondchance. Giving a 4 star rating as the food was excellent, and the service great. A couple mishaps in the kitchen were hopefullyan uncommon occurrence for them. Read more
Loved this restaurant! Had the shebang which was plenty of food for 2. The ribs just fell off the bone and the chicken was so... tender and delicious. Highly recommend the southern greens. Loved the decor. Make sure to read the stories on the photo wall. This will definitely be my go to restaurant when in Nelson Read more

Really good bbq! The meat (we got ribs and fried chicken) were definitely the star. Some of the best ribs I?ve ever had. We... couldn?t actually finish the food so the platter is a good size for two people, probably even 3. The restaurant itself is niceinside and has a good atmosphere.
