Love this Gem in New Orleans. We’re visiting from San Francisco/Bay Area where isn’t a shortage of Indian places. However,... Tava just won us over ?????????? It’s creative Indian inspired menu had us wanting every item on the menu. So with difficultywe narrowed downs to the * started off with a delicate mango diqarii * Chaat + Lamb Vindaloo - amazing burst of chaat flavorson crispy tators spiced with toppings, some soft cooked lamb with flavorful and tamarind date and coriander chutneys cooling itall down. Very nice twist on the chaat which is classic Indian street food. * dosa classic with potato sabzi, yummy chutney andSambar, don’t forget to add the “gun powder” mix. Crisp nicely done * Egg and cheese kathi roll was the absolute bomb!Reminded me of morning egg and chapthi breakfast back home with a kick of crisp and cheesy softness * so good you'd want toREPEAT the roll- Kathi Chole - awesome ???? * chicken sandwich ohhh hmm good flavor, crisp southern style chicken infused withIndian masala. Potato chips on side are delightful * lastly the kulfi dessert sandwiched in Parle G’s brilliant!! Read more

I finally made it to Tava after drooling over the photos on Instagram and waiting for the restaurant to open. I wish the... hostess was representative of the cuisine or at least the friendliness of New Orleans. She almost turned me off from staying andenjoying my meal. In any case, my waiter Andrew totally took care of seating me, and was very attentive. He also gave amazingrecommendations from the menu. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious from the Dragon Bhel appetizer to the Paper Dosawith gunpowder masala entree to the tiny but yummy Mango Kulfi between Parle biscuits dessert to the frozen rosé or Frosé alight pink hue with a beautiful preserved blood orange slice. During my meal, Andrew mentioned that the bartender recognizedthat my drink was poured with less than what's usually served and brought me another Frosé. I very much appreciated that on awarm summer afternoon. I loved tasting the complex flavors and savoring each note as it melted down into single flavors. Ireminisced about the street foods and meals I enjoyed during my stay in India. I should have known to request my dishes to bemade spicy Desi style, as that bit of a kick and familiar flavor was missing. I'm Guyanese, so my capacity for spices is prettyhigh! I took some Dabeli Sliders to go and will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. Read more
