Polenta fries were excellent, corn soup was good, peanut butter chocolate dessert was also excellent. Our entrees were both... disappointing, especially at the price. I expected my wild mushroom crepe to be loaded with mushrooms,and oozing with wildmushroom flavor. It was mostly vegetables, with some small mushrooms, and did not have much taste at all. My daughter had thespaghetti and wheat balls. I did think the sauce was very good, but the wheat balls, again, lacked seasoning. I prefer my ownhome made lentil balls, that are loaded with garlic and other spices. These were bland. With all of the vegan choices in NYC Iwould not consider this a top choice. Read more

Food is great, my low score is mostly for the very rude waitress/hostess Francesca, that made us feel so uncomfortable by... popping in our table 4 times to tell us that our son was making her feel very nervous. While I understand that she may beconcerned of having a toddler putting his hands inside the glass of water (he was playing with his elephant, pretending it wasthe lake), and making funny faces to himself at the mirror, we never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome like she did. We go toCandle 79 quite often, in all city branches, and funny enough sit in the booths with the mirror and never had any issues. Ifactive toddlers make staff nervous, I would suggest putting a sign on the door of age restriction or increasing the dosage ofher calming pills, so she doesn’t need to report 4 times in 20 minutes how she feels nervous to customers. Clearly adisappointment and we will definitely refrain going to that Candle 79 if we see her there. Read more

We came for breakfast one morning looking for a vegan restaurant and it was a great experience. The restaurant has a nice... ambiance and good service. The Turmeric latte was pretty yummy but a tad bit overpriced at six dollars. The pancakes were prettygood, I do think the cashew maple butter could have been creamier & a bigger portion but overall the meal was delicious. Read more
