Like stepping into a time warp. Outdoor area was not very well furnished. We ate in the dining room. Now I understand why my... 80yo mother, who is from NYC, always makes a relish tray, so I learned something. Food was ok, pretty average. Service was belowaverage. Read more

Decent Italian food located at 11st and 6th Ave. In the Village. We had a large group of 13 and the wait staff accommodated as... well. I had the Blue Point Oysters as an Appitizer, 6 for $15.95 and they were excellent. My antre was the linguini with clamsauce. The clams were large with a nice texture. A decent amount of fresh garlic but the penne was a bit overcooked. I have hadbetter pasta but the claims were great. I did not sample any desserts. The food that others ordered looked good, but none of thepreparations looked over the top great. I did taste a meatball and it was a bit over done with a rather bitter taste. I havebeen told their specialty is the veal chop, but that did not interest me at the time as I am not a veal fan. If in the area, this place has a long history and is worth checking out. Read more

Went there for the first time recently for dinner with two friends based on the rating and the reputation. We sat outside,... which was relatively bare bones in terms of atmosphere and effort (inside looked quite cheerful). The service was okay - notparticularly attentive or friendly. Adequate. The food was the biggest letdown. We started with mushrooms, which were blandand tepid, and fried zucchini - just fine. For entrees, we had spaghetti with meatballs, cheese ravioli and eggplantparmigiana. None of the dishes were bad, but none were particularly good in any way. I can imagine coming here if you're along-time regular (and sat in the main dining room). Otherwise, we don't need to return. Read more

This place is an old anachronism or how dining in NYC used to be. In those days fine dining was either french, italian or some... version of. The waiters still wear wonderfully handsome uniforms they bring a relish tray to the table b4 you order, its veryold school. The majority of the patrons are from the surrounding neighborhood and they've been coming here for years, everythingfeels comfortable and familar. I've been coming here with my mom for over ten years and I'm one of the new people. The meal isalways nice and my mom very much enjoys it here. I recommend; the Clams Casino, Calamari, or the Shrimp Cocktail to start, thenthe Veal or Chicken Francess is always a good bet, the fish (filet or Sole) is also very nice. The pasta specials are also greatbut the side spaghetti is just ok, get the veggies instead as a side dish. You can finish with either a Spumoni, Tartufo, orCheesecake. Expresso or cappuccino is excellent and available with an after dinner cordial to really hit the spot. Its not cheapnor outrageously expensive but it will feel nostalgic in all the best ways. Enjoy.
