Was in the area today and remembered this Japanese restaurant we went to some years ago. It was so good!! Nabeyaki Udon, shrimp... Tempura, Katsu don. 10/10 cannot wait to come back. My boyfriend and I came on a Thursday night to enjoy their Early Bird Dinner Special (Tuesday-Thursday, 5-7pm, walk don?t run... people!!) This was my 4th visit to Ise Restaurant, so I figured it was time for a review. We made a 6:30pm reservation on Yelp,and the restaurant was about half full when we were seated. They still have good Covid measures in place, with plastic dividersbetween the tables. The service is quick, and the waiters are incredibly attentive, frequently refilling your water and ensuringyou are cared for. I had the hijiki salad (black seaweed salad), sashimi (4 types), soba noodles, sushi (5 pieces and half aspicy tuna roll), and green tea ice cream/barley tea for dessert. They were generous and fresh cuts of sashimi, especially thefatty tuna, salmon, and snapper. My boyfriend opted for the unagi and said the eel had a well-balanced and rich flavor, crispyskin on the outside and tender on the inside. Overall, I was impressed with the flavor profile and quality of all the dishes,and service was top-notch. At $38 for 5 courses, I consider it one of the best Japanese dinner deals in town! Read more
Enjoyed soba and some appetizers. The spicy tan tan soba is indeed spicy and the broth comes in a bubbling hot pot, while the... mountain veggie soba is earthy and pleasant. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in NYC. I leave here continuing to dream about the next time I can have their pork katsu... or their squid ink soba with uni and salmon roe. The prices are reasonable for a nice meal out (around $30 a dish) but you?llknow once you?ve had the food here that this is a place to save down and try to be a regular at. The waiters are also very niceand attentive and the food comes out relatively quickly so you?re not hungry for too long! Caveat I?ve only been here forSunday lunch so hopefully these items are also available during the week but the squid ink soba and the pork katsu are myfavorite dishes! Read more
