This hole-in-the-wall is perfect for a nosh before a concert at nearby Lincoln Center. Reasonable prices, good food, and the... coffee is terrific! There's a nice assortment of decent wines, and the ice cream desserts look amazing. There can sometimes be abit of a wait, which is a testament to its popularity. The service is friendly and fast, and you can count on the staff to getyou out in time for First Act curtain at the Met or the downbeat of the NY Phil. Read more

Good decent breakfast served fast. I've never understood why it takes breakfast places so long to cook an egg. Here we got it... quick and it tasted great. Read more

Pretty standard diner style venue. Attitude is relaxed. Food is fine, though the chicken in my Chicken Caesar Salad was a little... too charred. Read more

Old John's Luncheonette is our new go to. It has the feeling of yester-year, with old fashioned classics like egg creams, "drug... store" sundaes, and banana splits. The place is usually almost full to packed, but tables move pretty quickly and you won't findyourself waiting for long, most likely. The prices are also extremely reasonable. We're talking a grilled cheese sandwich with apickle and Cole slaw for $4.95 and an order of flap jacks or french toast for $6.95. Almost unheard of for New York, unlessyou're going for fast food. Old John's is a neighborhood favorite. It is a one-of-a-kind mom & pop place. The people workingthere are very nice, and they make you feel like you've been going there forever. Sometimes they can be a bit brisk, but theywill always do their best to accommodate your requests. In New York City, when it often feels like the best of a neighborhood'solder establishments are disappearing in favor of trendy and large chain stores/restaurants, I hope that Old John's Luncheonettesticks around for years to come. Our go-to breakfast spot. Old-school NY diner with no frills dishes. Staff is great and gets to know you. My husband really... enjoys the corned beef hash and eggs Benedict. We usually stick to egg dishes and breakfast so can't comment on lunch, dinner orsweet breakfast items. There's usually a wait on weekend mornings but tables turn over quickly. Read more
