Worst dining experience in NYC in quite some time (not a local). Service was bad, mainly due to bartender who I was told “got... behind” but interestingly there were only 22 adults of drinking age (yes I counted, smaller restaurant) and yes, a bartendercan “get behind” when two people with chef coats sit at bar and eat and get served beers and chat to said bartender, causinghim to “get behind.” I literally waited 15 minutes each time for two separate glass of wine requests (headed to NY Philafter dinner, so two was plenty). Oh the food? Well, if you like rubbery octopus with unharmonized flavors, including peach, mint, olives, and pickled radishes, then this is your go to place. Won’t be back Read more

I was blown away by this restaurant and I’m picky (having worked front and back of house). The food is excellent, most of it... farm-to-table style healthy and imaginative. The braised oxtail tagliatelle is great (though pricey at $26, and I’d like tosee it elevated with a good pappardelle instead). The sticky toffee pudding is great (it would want to be fur $14 - that’ssteep, please make it bigger). The Autumn panazella ($18) is lovely also a bit on the small side for the price, it should bedinner sized for vegetarians, and when the ingredients are not expensive, you can afford to be more generous (this restaurantshould take a leaf from the “find out what people want and give them lots of it” school). Ask for the brilliant celery rootpurée side ($9) with crackers as an appetizer. It’s luscious. The only drawback is the setting. It does close early (8pm) sothe lighting is more of a cafeteria-like lunching-lady setting. Drop the lights and bring in candles and get on the Seated appfor more traffic at night. It was oddly empty on a Friday night when a place with this quality of food - despite the prices -should be full. Read more

This was my favorite restaurant in NYC. Seriously. I came here spontaneously for lunch after my visit to the Historical Society... (go!) and loved every moment. So much so that I stayed for 1.5 hours - as a solo diner. The waiter was so sweet; had one of theBEST cocktails with actual lavender in it; and the food was delicious. The environment is calm, cool, and quiet. I'd even callit elegant. The decor is lovely. You just can't be in a hurry. I was fueled up enough and rested afterwards to brave the naturalhistory museum afterwards across the street. This is a real treat. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Read more

I’m sad to write this as I really wanted to like this place. Which is why I want to start with the pros: - the venue is... stunning. It truly is a beautiful place to have lunch or dinner. - the main courses (we had the squid ink bucatini and themushroom lasagna) were fantastic. Unfortunately…: - MOUSE! A mouse ran from the museum door straight to the kitchen, in themiddle of the dining room… they didn’t even say sorry or offer anything to apologize. They seemed very u phased by thesituation, which leads me to wonder how many of these do they see and there are in the kitchen… - the waitress, bless her, seemed to have no clue where she was. She didn’t know the menu, nor the drink menu. It’s problematic to me that I have torepeat the name of the first wine you have on your list 3 times in order for you to catch it. If you can’t say it, don’toffer it lol. - finally, there was a huge curffufle with the security guard and the maitre D. One (security) was yelling at usupon entrance to wear a mask, even tho we didn’t need one for the restaurant, and the maitre D just told us to go outside…almost like they didn’t want us there. ??? Having made a reservation in advance, I stood my grounds for a table inside in theAC, but it was a huge ordeal to get the security guy and the restaurants to actually agree on their mask policy. So… besidesthe two mains, a huge disappointment. Read more
