Bartender Tatiana was amazing she was very kind and allowed my partner and I to sample some cider before making a purchase. Also... the appetizers (buffalo cauliflower) was delicious. Can never go wrong with old school games with friends. Old style arcade with food and drinks is definitely a chill vibe. You can... come here alone but it's better with friends. I've been to the one in Jersey City and Brooklyn and they all essentially have thesame vibe. They switch up some of their menus, I believe when the seasons change. Read more
Barcade! What can I say about this place?! I absolute love the concept, the combination of a cozy bar and arcade gaming center... is perfect, featuring many popular vintage games like Mortal Combat, Pac Man, Daytona USA and Pinball. They have great ambience,nice choice of cocktails and draft beers, decent food and good service. I have been to Barcade a few times for lunch and alsoat evenings mostly with a group of friends. They offer American comfort food serving a variety of burgers, sandwiches and fewother sharable plates at moderate pricing and generous portion sizes. They recently revamped the menu with a greater choice ofvegetarian/vegan friendly options. I would highly recommend their $15 lunch special (absolute steal deal) which offers you achoice of burger/sandwich with fries/salad and a beer. Their classic tomato mozzarella sandwich is pretty flavorful and the newfalafel sliders are great. I also tried the beet veggie burger, it's decent but some find a tad sweet because of the beets. Ifyou order the lunch special, they also give you 4 Barcade coins to play some games until the lunch arrives, which was prettycool. I like playing the Daytona USA - car racing, Pacman and Mortal Combat. The choice of alcohol served is pretty great andthe prices are reasonable. Recommendations: Food: Lunch special with Tomato Mozzarella sandwich or Falafel sliders And tatertots on the side. Games: Mortal Combat, Daytona USA For food alone it would have been 3.5 stars but the concept of arcade andbar makes it great for me. Overall it's a must try place for a fun hangout with friends. I am a lifelong gamer and love bar arcades. Barcade Newark has a large variety of retro arcade games and pinball games. The... prices to play the games are very reasonable. Most older games are only one or two tokens to play. The staff did a good job ofintermittently cleaning the machines. However the token machine only takes cash. Not the worst thing considering how overpricedcard based arcades work. The food options are good for a bar arcade but are not necessarily gourmet. I appreciated that theyhad vegetarian food options! They have a strong draft beer selection and also offer a lot of happy hour food/drink combos. Iwill definitely be back to play, drink, and eat! Read more
