My husband and I stopped into St. York Street per a recommendation from a nearby business owner. THIS PLACE IS... OUTSTANDING! The interior is just as unique as the building's history and the menu offers selections that are refreshingly rareto see at most restaurants nowadays. You can tell that the ingredients are high-quality and the combinations are well thoughtout. The staff was welcoming and attentive. The music and ambiance wrap you in a blanket of nostalgic optimism. This would bean excellent place for a weekly date night for those who live nearby! Read more
We had a reservation. We got seated rt away. The menu was nohjing that was posted online. I asked and the waiter said its... seasonal and changes too often. There was nothing i was interested in getting. Im not into anything spicy. We had no time to goelsewhere bc of theater tickets. I ordered the fish special. My bf had the jerk chicken. We waited longer than 45 min. Themanager came out and apologized the food hadnt been up to quality so they made it again. No bread delivered nothing in themeantime. My fish came out a dried husk on some cold veggies. They must have just switched out the fish. My bf was just ok. Forjust the 2 , unsatisfactory entrees and water our bill was about 70 bucks or so. Closer to 80. For what you pay the food iscertainly NOT worth it. My friend went the next day with same rests for their food. Do NOT WASTE your money. Go somewhere wherethey care about quality food. You need to do yourself a favor and visit this cozy restaurant. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. The ambiance... is charming, cozy and so welcoming. The decor is interesting and there is a story behind each piece. It takes you back intime. Once you are seated, you feel like you are back at one of your favorite places, it is a comfy feeling. The staff isfriendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and knows the menu and can make great recommendations. The food will just melt in yourmouth (OK, I did make noises). This place is definitely a hidden gem! When we walked in we were welcomed by a very professional host. He was incredibly nice... and made us feel very comfortable. We ordered their seasonal fish and it was out of this world. It was the greatest fish you canget in the area. Absolutely incredible! Their ribs were absolutely amazing as well. I worked here for a year several years ago. I still recommend them to everyone. They still have the best burger I've ever had... (their veggie burger is also the best) and the rum cake still ranks as one of my favorite desserts ever. The dinners were alwaysamazing. It is the only place I've ever worked in my years in the service industry that I never got tired of eating their foodevery day. The food is amazing and the menu is never stagnant. Not only is the food incredible, but the kitchen is probably thecleanest of any I've seen and the owners are some of the kindest people I've ever worked for. The patio is beautiful and it isin one of the most interesting buildings in Newport. Five stars only because I can't give them ten. Read more
