Our visit was great. We had spent the day down on the beach, very windy and chilly that day. We wandered up the street and only... had to wait a small amount of time. We were seated and attended to quickly and by a wonderful waitress who definitely had herehands full. We had 6 adults and 5 kids in our group. The waitress was helpful in describing the food to the kids who wereinterested in trying new things. We tried the fried green beans, which were a special of the day, the regular chowder bowl, fishand chips, and grilled pesto chicken sandwich. All of the food was tasty and hot when it came out. My oldest absolutely lovedthe chowder bowl and was very happy he gave it a try. First time having clam chowder. I would recommend coming here for a biteto eat after a walk through town or down on the beach. Get warm and fill the bellies. Read more
Our first time visiting Nye Beach, a lovely town and area. We were told this was the best place to get chowder in Newport, so we... tried it out. Definitely was not disappointed!! Everything we ate was great! I got an order of chowder to take back home lol!! Ienjoyed a salad and chowder, my love enjoyed grilled fish and chips...delicious! Had several items off the menu between the 5 of us. Appetizers were great (zucchini was a great idea). Both burgers that were... ordered were great, even my daughter almost devoured hers. Fish tacos were good. Chowder had great flavor, but could have used alittle veggies in it (was really a bit of clam and potato). The chips were cut chip style (but thicker) and didn't have muchseasoning on them, for you to eat as-is or with your favorite sauce. All the rest of the seafood was fried (I should haveordered my platter with the fish and oysters grilled option available). That being said, the calamari was spot on - not over orundercooked. The fried clams were a bit bland and could have used some seasoning. Fried shrimp was as you expect from friedshrimp. The fried oysters could also have benefitted from some more seasoning (saved by the cocktail sauce, which was decent).The tartar sauce was a bit mild, but it actually worked great with the fried cod. The batter on the cod was spot on, and thecombination with the sauce was great (if a bit over salted for my personal taste, but still good flavors). Clean restaurant,and friendly staff. Read more
Great chowder. Love the pat of butter in it. Tasty fish. Chips are okay but kinda bland. Outdoor seating area is nice when the... weather?s good. Lots of people bring their cute doggies there. Service has always been good. Read more
