While visiting we just picked this by the good reviews. Prices were reasonable and the food was really good. I got the halibut... and my girlfriend got the stuffed sole?both were delicious and presented real nicely. The waitress was in outer space though.She didn?t even give us menus and tried to take our order, greeted us us a second time and forgot our oysters 3 separate times. Read more
I?ve been to over a dozen restaurants during my visits to Newport but none left a bigger, memorable impression than... Benjamin?s. The food was great, servings are generous and not too heavy which made it enjoyable. We got the Fisherman?sPlatter, Rhode Island Clam Chowder and Black Sea Bass (special) - all VERY good. Great restaurant! We love oysters and Benjamin?s has an awesome oyster and clam lunch special from 12-2pm. Tyler, our... shucker/waiter was awesome! He is a master shucker and was very attentive to us during lunch. We had a bunch of laughs and greatlocal oysters. If you like oysters, you?re going to love Benjamin?s! Benjamin's is excellent. I've been to Newport five times now over the past couple of years, in each season. I'm a foodie, and... each time I try new restaurants that are highly rated. Fortunately, Benjamin's was a place I tried on my second visit to Newportin late October. Out of the 20+ restaurants I've been to, Benjamin's is hands down my favorite. The place to be is upstairs. Itis cozy and inviting without the loud music that tends to happen downstairs. The bartender upstairs makes the best Long IslandI've had anywhere in my multiple travels around the world. As good as the drinks are, the food is better. The main menu isfabulous, and there are nightly specials. I highly recommend the prime rib and lobster thermidor. The best. I have been toBenjamin's on each of my subsequent visits to Newport. It is the only place I look forward to returning to each time I am intown. The staff is down home and friendly. During tourist season May - Oct make advanced reservations if you want to beupstairs. Off season a table can likely be had. Read more
