No cash! Credit cards only! Well, that's the only reason why it lost a star. It should be clearly stated at the front entrance... please. I don't mind paying with a credit card, but I was unaware of it until I got the bill. That said, this place is not tooshabby for a vegetarian Mexican. How many healthy Mexican places have anyone been in OC or anywhere nearby? We need more ofthese healthy options available. I really liked the guava cheesecake without cheese although it was just a tad bit sweet for mytaste. I should have asked for the drizzled sweet sauce on the side. The posotle was interesting because it was lacking thatgrease that I would normally expect from it. However, it was definitely healthier. The prices were a bit strong, but this is inNewport Beach so it was not a surprise. My server Esmeralda's smile made the sunshine brighter coming through the bamboo patiocover. Had a very delicious plant based dinner at Gracias Madre. It wasn’t too busy around 6:00 PM, our server was very kind and... extremely attentive. The food was prepared so quickly with terrific presentation. Tried the Crunch Wrap and Pozole. Wasn’table to get a photo of their nachos but they are amazing as well, the pineapple salsa really makes the flavors pop! Willdefinitely be back in the near future! Read more
I found out after I got here that this has no association with the one in San Francisco. The setting is beautiful and the... waitstaff is friendly. We ordered guacamole and chips, “I am …” juice which was not too sweet and I didn’t knowbeetroot, pineapple, ginger could taste so good together. I also went for the taco flight and wanted to be experimental. Iordered the mango broccoli taco- It was really good. Although if the spicy broccoli pieces were a little smaller, probablyeasier to have a uniform flavor. The coconut meat taco was also delicious, as was the parm mushroom taco. Rich, cheesy flavorthrough and through. I tried my friend’s oyster mushroom taco, absolutely fantastic. We ordered the upside down pineapplecake. It was so good, we ended up ordering two. Excited to learn there was a Gracias Madre location in Newport Beach. Stumbled across it on open table when in the area for... work. Have eaten at the location in Weho and the experience was consistent. I ate solo at the bar during their happy hour(5-6pm). They have a limited happy hour menu of food and cocktails at reduced prices. Agave based tequila drinks and a solidmix of plant based options did not disappoint. I sampled the cauliflower, potato taquitos, and ‘Al pastor’ taco, washeddown with a Mexican mule. So good. Service was on par with the food - great.
