Excellent food and service. I ordered the lunch shrimp (6 vs 12 for dinner) grilled over a bed of rice, with sides of fries and... corn on the cob and hushpuppies. Everything was excellent. The shrimp were grilled tender and moist, not salty. Corn was plumpand steak fries were perfectly cooked crispy outside and fluffy inside. Nothing was over seasoned. My sister was in town and wanted to stop and eat here. Ordered the "2 meat* lunch. Chicken and chicken livers, pretty good and a... lot of food. Didn't finish it all, paid a dollar more for a breast. Good customer service is always a plus. Wouldn't of normallyeaten here but good price and portions for lunch. Read more
I was very disappointed! The food was mediocre at best. PoFolks used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. They... all closed years ago ??. The server we had was very sweet and attentive. The main dining room was extremely cold!!! Fortunately,we were in a back dining room which was fairly comfortable. A couple came in when we were finishing our meal and were asking fora warmer place to sit but were not allowed to come in there. They were told that dining room was closed!!! They said they wouldnot be able to stay due to it being too cold to sit there and eat. I totally agree!!! If we had not been in that dining room, Iwould have left!! I HATE for my food to get cold before I can even get it to my mouth!!!!!!! Read more
OK. I mean the seasoning was extremely limited, tartar sauce was mayo. The white fish and catfish was great! The shrimp dinner... was meh, it came with 1 tbs of rice, that was cute ????.. Everything needs a kick up in flavor, you people ever hear of salt?Old bay? Black pepper even? Once I doctored it up, it was great! The Mac and cheese comes from a bag and the beans from a can.Just plain. Idk seems more geared towards the 65+ crowd than ta southerner. 4 stars cause the staff was great and because theproteins were good after I seasoned them. 2 stars for the sides. 5 stars for the buscuit, 1 star for hush pups. I onced loved Po Folks but the food is now canned food quality. Just not true southern food anymore. Also the restuarant is old... and run down. Cobwebs and dust every where. Ceiling tiles are nasty and probably have mold growing in ceiling and walls.Management should definitely focus more on cleanliness. Read more
