Shah?s Halal (North Brunswick) has been amazing when we dine in or take out for 15+ people.They have generous portions of rice, chicken and lamb and sauces. Salad is ALWAYS fresh cut. Tried shahs for first time and I was actually impressed with the taste of the food. And not that expensive too. Had a mix of... chicken and lamb and full of proteins and rice . I had the fish platter with white sauce & a little red sauce. It was very tasty and filling. The fish was made to order and very... fresh. I also had a side of fries. The employee who took care of me was very courteous and attentive. I was visiting the areafrom NY and I?ve only ever been to Shah?s in Connecticut. I enjoyed my experience at this Jersey location. To start with, I worked in NYC and really liked Chicken over rice concept introduced here in Jersey. Here is my opinion and... reason behind my rating: 1. Inconsistency with Falafel. We bought falafel over rice a few times from them and falafel werenever the same. First time it was good but next 2-3 visits, they were hard like a rock and felt like just came out offreezer. 2. Too much of rice dump to reduce meat quantity. They put hell lot of rice to fill the entire bowl that allows themto less chicken. 3. Quality of chicken has been consistent and good. 4. Extremely calculative with every piece of black bean.Have no idea why! 5. One issue recently started. I usually get hot and barbeque sauce on side to make sure to get perfecttaste. So request them to put little less sauce in platter and get small cups on side to take home to make a perfect taste athome. Now they started charging extra for those cups!!! Just amazing. I can understand and completely justify their charge forthe paper bag but this is not good. 6. People on the counter are good - New Brunswick location. Read more
