I got a nice hefty salad with ginger dressing and cherry tomatoes, excellent sushi, and I highly recommend the curry Krokkes (croques?)! We've been to a lot of sushi places and this place has the freshest sushi in town. And I like that the tempura flakes actually have flavor on the Krokkes and the spicy tuna crunch.

Stopped in here for a family lunch. You can watch you sushi preparation, which fun for the kids. Everythingwe ordered was delicious. We sampled several rolls and appetizers. The chicken on the appetizer was a huge hit with my family and we plan to double the order next time we visit.

Sushiya has been our favorite sushi restaurant in Iowa City area. We have been visiting this place regularly for the last 3 years, and never had a bad experience. We only eat sushi, and didn't try other options though (because it is so good!).

I never liked Sushi before, but when I ate it here I liked it so much! Especially the avocado rolls, crunch rolls, and shrimp tempura rolls. The place is clean, and the people are friendly and polite. The rest room is taken care of. It is well-equipped and clean. I recommend this place, and I will bring my family to it next time.

Very good choice while staying in north liberty for a night. Michelle was a great server, very friendly and attentive. We ordered tea and egg rolls to start, then 4 rolls: yam tempura, honey roll, spider, and smoked salmon. All were excellent. My husband didn't realize the spider roll had a whole crab (we've only had sushi 3 or 4 other times in our life) so he was a little put off by the legs and the crunch of the crab body lol, but he ate 4 of the 6 rolls and just took the crab out of the last 2! I liked the honey roll the best-delicious! Beautiful presentation as well! We were quite pleased with our choice to eat here-we went right at 5pm when they open and when we left the restaurant was full! Always a great sign. We also thanked the men working at the sushi counter which earned us a surprised look and thanks. Most people don't think to thank the chefs which I think is a nice gesture. Remember to top your servers! We also tip generously to thank people in this day and age who actually want to work. Thank you Sushiya!

Got a to-go order, & was extremely impressed by the sushi! However, teriyaki entree was extremely lacking. $15 for a chicken, rice & tiny portion of veggies, which in my opinion was the highlight of the dish. The teriyaki sauce itself was not at all expected and had an odd taste. I would definitely pass on getting that meal again. Also the spicy mayo is VERY spicy ? ? Overall good experience! ?

Cute little place. Friendly staff and yummy food. When the place is full, service is a bit slow. They have a cute seating area outside by the river. I wouldn?t recommend for large groups over 6 unless you don?t mind the constricted space or sitting outside. The edamame was basic and cold, not hot like I prefer, but nothing that bothered me. Loved the Taiwanese Crispy Chicken: crunchy, a good portion to share, and the veggies with this appetizer tasted great. Shushi rolls we tried and enjoyed: Shrimp Tempura, Dragon, and New York.
