My fiance is "in the business", and she reviewed as well...I'll mimic her review. - "A (local) friend, who has been going for... years, recommended Nicks to us. Three things that generate happiness & a return (for us) are: Taste, value, and service. And Iam sorry to say, we will most likely not be back. I looked at menu online and read a lot of unsavory reviews(which I usuallytake with a grain of salt-because you just can't be sure and I like to find out for myself). We specifically went for a rack ofribs and prime rib and I should've been alerted by the red flag reviews. I thought some reviews may have been over stated or abit harsh, but turned out to be accurate. Ribs were dry, squirted with just a drizzle of fresh sauce on top, and unfortunatelycame to our table barely warmed up. Not the fall off the bone, dripping, tender, hot, juicy bones of meat I was anticipating.The prime rib was very fatty, grisly & tough! I know prime rib is a fatty cut- but the fat is for flavor, not a whole plate ofscraps. I was ready for juicy, tender, melt-in-your-mouth-like-butter prime rib, but got a tough, fatty, over cooked slab ofmeat; accompanied by cold, limp fries instead. I understand times are tough everywhere, prices are through the roof oneverything- I do not mind paying for a meal, but I want to enjoy my food & feel satisfied that I received a good value for mymeal. The "sides" are so small, a couple bites. I planned on us sharing sides, but there was not enough to split, I was going toget a side of coleslaw for myself, but couldn't justify paying over $3 ($3.49/$3.79) for literally 2 bites. Prime Rib "dinner"was just some fries (one side). One should never leave a restaurant still feeling hungry. Lots of seating so I had no waiting, although it is after Labor Day. Friendly and attentive staff. Rustic look with both... tables and booths, outdoor and bar seating available. Prime rib was awesome. Rare means rare here so be certain that?s how youlike it. Sides were great, I recommend adding a second side as I did, potato is default, but I chose others. All under $50. I've been going to Nick's for most of my life when I'm at the beach. I've patronized the restaurant through highs and lows, had... good meals and lousy meals. I recently stopped in and ordered a full rack of ribs along with fries and a loaded potato and amglad to report that everything was delicious. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone great and the sauce was fantastic, just as Iremember it. My biggest complaint is the price to portion size ratio. For a 10-bone rib platter (Nick's has 4 options, from 4bone up to 12-14 bone), I paid $36.99. Add 2 to 4 more bones and you are paying $43.99! That's a $7 difference for 2 more bonesof meat! That is insane! If price inflation continues along this trend, I don't foresee these restaurants surviving. I went the other day and it was great, the ribs were great and flavorful. I had the nicks sauce and it was great. The fries were... very crispy and my corn was seasoned great. The server was newer, he was a very cool dude and did good, he helped me decide onwhat I wanted. I also had the carrot cake and my friend ordered the cheese cake. The cheese cake was great and had a very goodraspberry filling on top, it reminded me of a pastry filling. And the carrot cake was my favorite item of the night, it wassuper flavorful and the icing was great, I loved the nuts in the frosting.
